isnt an hour drive worth it to get to party alllll night long again? better than those of us who get to the venue, and dont even get a chance to get in, cuz its already been shut down. so totally worth the trip. and theres enough drivers around, that if any body needed a ride, with a couple bucks gas money, we'd have no trouble driving. and, we dont have to pay for parking. w00t!

I am willing to travel as long as it isn't too far...New venues would probably help from the cops busting...Somewhat...

You can't really ask how often they get broken up...It just depends on the location and if you get a noise complaint or someone calls 911...All depends...

I won't go far at all for parties. Why would I go out to Chilliwack when I can just go down to a club or a party downtown!

There are tons of spots in North and West Van if you look around enough! Thats a 15 min seabus ride and a 15 min car ride from Burnaby etc.

I wont go farther than Vancouver for a party unless I'm playing at it.

The exception is the huge festivals like BUSHFUNK coming up and apex.

~Sean

btw. There are lots of places from NV up to Squamish that are KILLER!

You've obviously never been to one, because a lot of the time, those are the ones that end up being the most killer of parties.

Winlaw parties (tiny town outside of Nelson) will always have a place in my heart. That's where I went to my first rave. That's the dancefloor I call home.

Big parties for the headliners, small parties for the vibe.

In Seattle 1000's of people travel 30 minutes to an hour average for a party. In Vancouver we've been spoiled and it's hard to break the habits

Heh, thanks. I've been around the block...Seen my share of parties. My faves (besides Shambhala, of course....which still has that "small party" feel to it anyway) have been the smaller ones. I like the sense of intimacy they have.

Some have not-so-big name DJs, and some do have our fave DJs at them - At small parties I've had the pleasure of hearing Dig Dug and Czech, and my roommate once booked Lorin for one of his parties. For Groove 2 (which I didn't go to, but kinda go the feeling it was a smaller party) they had Aquasky. But even so....don't snob the not-so-famous DJs, because some of them have talent that will knock you off your feet. I'm a big fan of supporting the locals.

TOTALLY. It's really to bad or I know that more promoters would be throwing outdoor shows that were not close to the downtown core.

If it's indoors, don't fucking make it some little community hall in Abbotsford. That's just hurting. There are plenty of warehouses around Eastvan. Find one with a "For Lease" sign outside.

So you go venue-hunting.

I understand that it takes work, but nobody said throwing a party was easy. Talk to the people that have been doing this for a while, I'm sure they could offer you a lot of pointers.

But it's not like Plaza was the only venue that doesn't get busted.

Vancouver rav0rs needs to stop being so fucking prissy about their parties.

So it's not the plaza. 3 words for you: Get THE FUCK over it! There were raves before the plaza was ever used, and there will still be raves without it. It just takes a little more effort now. If the scene means anything at all to you, you'll make the effort to keep it alive. It's summer fer chrissakes. BEACH PARTIES! FIELD PARTIES! We have a few months of reprieve before venues become critical for the winter. Make the best of what you have!

*sigh* And no one is listening to anything that any of us who KNOW what we're talking about have to say. I liked things better before the 15-year-olds too over.
