Looking for new dj's ?

Just curious if the scene here ( club, raves, parties, penises ) is interested in new local Dj's coming out ... or if they're tired of random poop and want to stick to the tried and tested.

new dj's are always welcome. but they have to at least have the basics down before playing out. I'm not saying you have to be a mix master mike, but you should be confident that you can hold a mix while playing out.

my 2 cents.

New DJ's are bomb because they add to the ever-evolving scene and also they move forward the progression of popular genres... with new talents, busting shit that no one else has, it gets ppl who wouldn't otherwise hear it, into diff kinds of beats. its tight.

I think someone should do a revival rave of all us old skool Dj's so we can show the flavor of what it was like to rave 10 years ago. Man things have changed no anyone can sound like a good Dj. Damn those manufacturers.

...waait a minute, I feel this obvious 'question' is a thinly veiled promo for sommmething.

like who the fuck is going to vote no?

No! We don't like fresh new talent! And we like cancer! And racism! And Hitler too!

*cough* MORE LIVE-PA! *cough*.

Seriously. There's some *tight* acts hanging around the Van underground - MAX POWER is a great example, serious dancefloor techno action.

I think more bedroom producers should consider putting together a live act - even if it's just straight laptop audio playback, I'd much rather go listen to someone playing their OWN tunes than yet another new DJ showing off their mystical ability to beatmatch... I'm not slamming DJs, but I mean, if you haven't been spinning records for more than five years, you're not doing anything we haven't all seen before...

Sykonee will become famous soon enough
I'd rather see old DJs spin something different rather than new DJs spin the same ol' thing.

Of course, having a new DJ spin something different is, like, the Holy Grail, or something.

well id vote for both

new djs are always welcome and provide the people with new fresh things, but i think are locals are fine as they are too. sure a few should hit the bedroom and practice a bit more but more the the experienced locals hold up vancity pretty tight

like look at all the new fresh faces that came into the scene and spiced things up over the past 2 yrs, mateo, charlie2na, johnny ill, etc etc......

i think the most important thing for new djs is to obtain your own style, quit with the cookie cutter breaks/house/trance/dnb dj and do something different. people will notice you more and it will seperate you from the others

Are you living in LA LA LAND?

How is a new dj busting out shit no one else has? He's only got the latest records that anyone can buy. Old school dj's bust out shit no one has. You're just a walking 'i'm young and cool' factory, aren't you? ;)

you were twelve years old when people in this city had a grasp of your style and decided that it was lame.
