WPT players need 10 years of "hardcore" poker experience?!??
LMAO! Mr. Moneymaker who won the WSOP this year entered in as a wildcard from an online poker site, played only for a few years and made it off with the grand prize. There are skilled players all over the world that never make it to the WPT. Why? Becuase they don't care too. I know at least 10 people that make a living off the 15-30 and upper limit games and do they need the infamy? Nope. They are living large off the losees of weaker players. Best player on this board? As I said... I'd take any of you on, anytime. I'm not saying I am the best... far be it. But I know where my skill lie. You don't need great skills to be on the WPT in order to win. If you just happen to have Poker God on your shoulder that week you play you can win too. Luck makes or breaks you at the early rounds of a tournament. Skill takes you to the final table. Then luck takes over again to make you win. |

luck doesnt matter at all in poker.....if youre not good then you can easily be bluffed out....was anyone watching the guy paul onthe wpt? he had like pocket queens and jacks athat he was layign down...and he would have won pretty much any of them if he would have stayed in
if youre lucky and stupid then you still lsoe.... so was that a yes mc hammered? u wanna play?? |

If you think the players that are in the WPT finals are the end all and the best the world has to offer then you are a fool.
Luck doesn't matter at all in poker? LMAO! The best players in the world can't win without some luck on their side. I'd sit down and play with you kids if for no other reason than it'll be entertaining just to watch you people do your moves that you learned from TV. |

i started palying poker years before i watched it on tv....but im pretty sure i already said that the best players dont win in the WPT....the bestp layers in the world are peopel like howard lederer, gus hansen......but the people who getl ucky do make it to the finals.....but you still ahvent answered my quewstion...are u willign to play a $50 buy in tournament? because i really wanna do this...

luck does have a factor...but skill can easily overcome luck in the longrun....a lot of the time winners are lucky...but thats besides the point...because the sileld poker players rank high in tournaments on a consisten basis....for example...iff you get pocket jacks, a guy with pocket sevens could go all in pre flop and oyu could fold...so its not all about luck....its about knowing when to lay fdowen a hand and knwing when to play a hand.....skill owns luck.

In Omaha 77% of your hand is completed on the flop.
In Holdem just 55% of your hand is completed on the flop. The remaining 45% is such a major variance that a "lucky" player who is on a hot streak can hit just about anything. I've done it myself a few months ago and took 17 hands in a row. It was quite the rush... did I play with skill? Nope. I just let the cards run their course and I won in the end. In Omaha with 77% of your hand complete and knowing the stastical possibilities of what your opponent might have based on their betting and calling patterns you can make a pretty safe guess as to where your hand ranks compared to theirs. I've seen hands flop in Omaha the totally dominate the remaining players involved while that cannot be said very often in Holdem. |

good point...but im just tryin to say that luck cannot win you a championship in holdem...and it doesnt make you good
yes, the turn and river and pretty mcuh all luck but oyu have to know when to stay in, and when to place a bet, and how to read other people...otherwise you wont get anywhere... if youre lucky, but you dont know what youre doing, then you will never be able to read someones bluff and you will probably crack when someone pressures you into high betting....holdems all about the betitng...and chip position...if you are godo at bettign and you know when to bet adn when to lay down a hand then you will win.... |

think about how many times youve seen someone place a weak bet on pockets and thne get outdrawn or make a bad call and try to trap someone, then let them catch soemthign and you get fucked.....it seems like its luck but it really isnt...

That's strange... no word from Adam yet...
But, come on. Luck has SOMETHING to do with the game. But, i do believe a great poker player can outplay a bad poker player. Poker is more than just what's in the cards. It's how you present yourself, handle pressure, bluff or call bluffs... it's a game of personality, observation and risk. I've seen noobs beat out veterans on single hands because the noob didn't know what was going on, and the veteran didn't expect the noob to do what he just did (did that make any sense) so sometimes, luck is the only thing a veteran can bank on. Can this fool even see the signs i'm trying to give him or is he playing his game out...? ionno. Hold-em's dope. and damn, it's been around since cowboys and indians. it'll play itself out as soon as childbirth plays itself out. And damn, who still says 'Played Out' anymore. That's so year 2000. ***NOTE THE SARCASM** |
