i'm not saying that there isn't an ideal family situation for every child. but the reality of the matter is simply that there comes a point in some marriages when the ideal situation is no longer possible. yes, you missed out on an experience, but would you have had that experience if your parents had remained married purely for the sake of an impossible ideal? i think not.

My parents got married in 1975 (New Years Eve) so 29 years on New Years Eve.

Yes I forgot to add... For sure there are cases where it probly is best that the marrage be broken up and im sure all divorces have their good reasons. I mean really how do you tell if the two of you are ment to be forever? Definently happyness is key, but I wonder if theres thigns or ways to help prevent divorce or marriages not wroking out?

yeah i truly feel bad for when abuse is in the picture...in that case than its a sake of mental and emotional saftey...that part i completely agree on.

i just really feel that divorces seem to be such an easy way out for most people...like its normal for people to get a divorce. from the results of this poll and the responses in this thread it is clear that divorce is the norm....a fact wich makes me upset....
