My computer is noisy as hell!
Are there any sources of noise in a computer other than the fan and disk drives?

I just moved in with mine and it might as well snore like a drunk. It almost overwhelms my Groove Salad at night and I DONUT like it.

Would replacing the fan help this?

Your Groove Salad? wtf? Getting a quieter fan would probably help, but you really just need to pinpoint the source of the noise, which are primarily from the sources you've already noted (especially hard drives in my experience at least), since there aren't any other components with moving parts those other components tend not to make any noise.

better yet though, why don't you just turn it off at night - it would help your groove salad im sure.

your comp is not louder then mine... trust me... mines noisey as shit!

but what I did, was sound proof the cassing. I can barely hear it now.

I have this foam stuff all along the siding n on any of the holes... just do the same withyours.

check your fans, go to larger diameter, slower fans if possible (for the case fans) get higher quality fans for your heat sink, if you're feeling daring and it's really bothering you you can get rubberized udercoating paint, take the sides outside and give 'em a couple coats in the inside

My comps perfectly fine. I thought the same thing....when it was done to my puter[Greenwire did it for me], but its perfectly fine.

well, that's not entirely true - any material that insulates sound will also insulate heat (both sound and heat energy are transfered in the exact same manner, through particle collisions) so it will have an effect, whether or not it's a big enough effect to matter is a different story... I'm assuming because the techy nerdmeister himself, Greenwire, did it for J'nette that he did it right, but you could create heat problems if you're not careful. I guess the biggest thing is to make sure the fans are still able to get adequate air supply to blow on the heat sink, etc.

DAVE, I CANT LISTEN TO GROVE SALAd!!!! My computer at work doesn't have speakers and I don't even think it has a sound card (not even onboard) - this way it keeps me from having fun and makes me go crazy!! I wanna listen to your salad, i swear.
