I think that they are adorable...As for the reason for dressing outlandishly, it is all about escaping your normal life for those 8 to 10 hours that you are partying. Hell, I rock a suit and tie at work but come my next party I am going to be throwing on my old saucer pants for one last time (I am retiring them). Sometimes it is just fun to dress and act a way you may normally not...Why do you think Halloween is still popular!

We don't think were too cool, definetly not jaded at least complety haha. I can't speak for everyone but for myself I think the candy era was good times but its past. |

but if i may say; if you look back in history, prety much every style of fashion has returned/had a rebirth is some way or other more then once, so perhaps one day the "candy-kid" style will return. |

kenji i agree! candy was fun times, but that is definitely a past tense statement because you know.. to maintain such a goofy look.. haha :P
yeah right. i just can't do it anymore, growing up ain't easy but growing out of some things kinda helps. plus all you candy ravers wonder why no one takes you seriously! good times. good memories. |

Back in 2001 and stuff candy was the big scene even the junglists wore bright colored ties and such. Now its more of an urban, trendy time. Where most dress casually at the least. I see no reason why one should dress up to a rave any differently than you would if you were going to work or walking down the seawall in vancouver. Would you walk down the seawall in phat pants and a soother. The candy kid style has never died, its just the scene that came with it has pretty much gone into hiding and retreat. With each scene comes a different fashion sense. I will give you that alot of candy kids are fun though. |

Once a style becomes overused, it becomes a uniform. Like dressing as a punk to make a "statement" when really all these teens are doing are conforming to another trend and using that as a foundation for seperating people into classes.

I tend to wear a little bit of kandy whenever I'm at a party, and sometimes I go all out crazy-ass with my kandy wearing, but whatever. It is a costume, and it is a lot of fun sometimes. In my opinion, some places lend themselves to having crazy kandy kids jumping up and down like maniacs (Little Warehouse Parties full of Speed Garage, Hardcore Parties, KISS). At others, it's either pointless or too rediculous to be amusing.
As long as it isn't constantly overdone, it's all in good fun. |
