i agree with the BoBBy_t's theory ..to an extent..
i grew up and still live in maple ridge where i was able to run around in my street without worrying about traffic.. where i rode horses around all the roads and trails in the area, hiked through the bushes searching for coyote dens.. building triple decker forts .... finding a tree with a favourite branch to climb up into during the summer with a pillow and a book to 'get away from it all' cleaning out horse stalls since the age of 5 competing provincally in tetratholon & pentatholon.. going to school and playing with friends.. my dad would take me and my sister remote fishing on an island off the coast of Tifino where the only contact with the outside world was by plane.. my family never really watched tv, except to watch the news.. the commercialized life style never fit into my life style.. i didn't care about clothes.. i didn't care about make-up or movie stars i didn't gush over boys I prefer swimming in lakes or the ocean rather then swimming pools.. there were points where all of my friends where all "lets go shopping.. lets apply more make-up" in high school.. i would pretend like i was interested, but i never followed through with it..i was always my own person.. i felt the pressure from the other kids around me, but I've always been very stubborn and just to prove a point, i would not let anyone pressure me into anything.. the more they tried, the more i dug in my heals and refused. i knew i wasn't weak and i wasn't going to let them get to me.. and i am very thankful for the lifestyle my parents provided for me i don't have the best social skills.. but i am still very very open-minded to everything, and i love the city life, but i would never be able to take it for very long.. i would miss the misty fields in the mornings.. the silence that covers you like a blanket at night time.. and the sweet smell of the fresh air.. BUT i also know people who've grown up in the same enviroment as i have who are not level headed.. ( my definition may differ from your definition of level-headed..) although the enviroment may have had a large impact, i think it has a lot to do with the way your parents raise you.. |
