Vegetarian*
Man, ever since I became a vegetarian I can't help but notice how much better I feel. Every dinner has become amazingly flavourful and different.
When you eat meat...you focus mainly on the taste and tenderness of the meat. It's always about the animal because the flavour of meat is always the strongest..and you base your recipes around that flavour. Now I can really appreciate the other flavours. It's SO incredible how much you can do with veggie dishes when you don't have the meat distracting you. Mmmm...I just made my first batch of home-made cheese! |

Home-made cheese is so easy*
Boil your milk until it's scorching and bubbling...then squeeze a lemon and this will cause it to curdle. Put it in a cheese cloth when it's cooled down enough..and squeeze your whey into a bowl to save the goodness for a sauce. Take your curds and mold them into fun little shapes! I eat fish still too...for it's source of fats and complex proteins. Fellow veggies...post you good recipes;P There's so much to learn about these new flaves~ |

I'm only going to comment on the word vegetarian and how it has lost its meaning in todays world... Both of you admit to eating meat, you guys are on restricted diets, you are not vegetarians by the true definition..
Lou belle I know you are just going to argue and I understand that there are adapted definitions and such as pesco/pollo vegetarian etc... but you guys are not vegetarians. |

I am a vegetarian that eats fish...if you want to argue that then do as you wish...but you'll never get back the time you waste trying to pursuade me into thinking YOUR way;P It's called pesco.
Oh no..are you the Vegetarian Cult leader? I'm not here to eradicate "Vegetarianism"...I just found that vegetarian..yes...definately describes my new diet* Please don't kick me out of the veggie crew! |

^hahaha. that's hilarious.
my sister has been a vegetarian for like 4 years now...and just six months ago she became totally vegan. she doesn't eat anything that comes from animals: cheese, milk, eggs...she even asks in restaurants whether or not the noodles are made with egg or not. it's crazy. |

I was a total vegan for 8 months....
It was such a catch 22. Some days, I felt healthy, rejuvinated even... Just all around great... But I was sick often and some days just felt like utter crap (I have an iron deficency as it is). I know this all could have been solved by taking a multi-vitamin or whatever.... But I realized I'd rather eat a little meat with my dinner and enjoy the flavor of something with meat in it, as opposed to taking my iron pill and multi-vitamin every day. Plus: Avoiding everything with milk, butter and cheese in it was a pain in the ass. Big ups to the people that can actually manage this! Last edited by Silverwinged; May 25, 05 at 12:54 PM. |
