Happiness
i had a really good convo with john tonight about this... and i think i mainly brought it up cause im reading 'the art of happiness'.... and i brought up the topic of "the key to life is happiness".. and how alot of people are missing out on 'true happiness' because theyre so preoccupied with material things ie. money and not utalizing them as a tool to bring 'true happiness'......
anyways... what do you think is true happiness?... and im not talking about "when i make really good tips at work" or "when i bought that new <insert item here> that i couldnt find anywhere"..... im talking on a more deeper level here... things that really add to your longterm happiness........(when i say 'true happiness' im talking about when a person is really just content with their life and can also take that and spread it around to others.. and just enjoy life!) sorry if im not making complete sence... its 5 in the morning and my allergies are driving me nuts! |

ok.. so even though i couldnt sleep all night cause my allergies were driving me nuts.... i got to experience something great....
it was getting light out when i was first making this post.... so when i was done.. i went out on my balcony.. cuddled up in my blankey on my camping chair with my kitty cat and just sat there and watched the sun come up... watched the birds flying around and chirping..... and the reason all of this was so great is because a) im never up this morning and always miss the suncoming up..... and b) it was all so peacful..... theres not alot of action at 5 am..... not alot of people out or cars driving around... so all i could really hear were the birds and all i could see was the sun coming out..... so i guess one could say i was one with nature... hehe. i really need to make a point of doing this again... that was awesome. :) |

Oh, chripes!
If you're looking for lovey-dovey kind of "wow, life is so God-Given" kinda tales, go pick up a stinkin' Reader's Digest! Happiness is a quiet moment of contentment, brought on by a brief recollection of moments in your life that has made an impact on someone else's life. Yes. Think about that... That ripple in the pool... Or, should I be talking about my new hard-drive and the over-priced vehicle I need to drive for work?... Frosty (Happiness is: not having to say you're Surrey) |

aw. its wonderful to understand happiness in a deeper level. i try to be really thankful for everything in my surroundings. once in a while id go up to my parents and thank them for raising me in such a fulfilling way. i look at everything i have, school, friends, achievments and things ive experienced and its overwhelming how amazing my life has been already... its an honor to live life and also be able to live in peace, sleep with a full stomach, and have days where i wake up with a silly grin on my face. magic happens on a daily basis, it can just be as simple as absorbing a view like a sunset, and im extremly extremly thankful for it.

Happiness is having good friends who will support you, enjoying the small finer things in life, being content with who you are and where your going. Also having a steady job to support a family...Never looking back and accepting what has been done with no regrets IMO is true happiness.

Happiness is a state of mind, nothing more.
The idea is that if there are things that are making you unhappy or keeping you from being happy, you can change them to alter your state of mind. But it's entirely an attitude, a state of mind. Ultimately, it's just a word. |

^^ true(ebbomega).. but u have to train your mind in a way to "weed" out negative experiences and embrace the positive ones more to gain a high state of happiness instead of the constant one we think is at the highest it can be... i think this is one of the hardest thigs in life for people to do cause we're brought up in a society that negative experiences are so horrible.. that they throw the happier "positive" moments out of balance... people get so caught up on the negative emotions they become depressed and so forth...negative thoughts..emotions... actually have a chemical reaction on your brain... and are really damaging in the long run for your health and well being....
life is full of ups and downs..... negative things happen around us all the time... but when everything settles down.. we come back up to our constant happiness... so the idea im trying to put out here is.. when something bad happens... instead of getting all caught up on it and how its all bad .. and get all depressed about it.. ur kind of pushing ur happiness back a step... u can never really experience 100% happiness if you let negative emotions get to you like this... somethings yes as humans we need to deal with and grieve over.. but just think to yourself ... things could be SOOOOOOOO much worse.. and that .. eventually everything will be OK.. and u will come back to your constant state of happiness.... this way... u get over it faster.... and u have more time to embrace all the positive things that are going on around you...... :) its like bev said .. realize all the wonderful things u have in yourlife..... and be fucking happy were so lucky to be alive each day and have all the things we have... cause there are alot of people out there alot worse.. and u know what the funny thing is... there are people out there that have alot less than us.. say in a 3rd world country.. who have probably achieved higher states of happiness than some of the richest people in the world... money= nothing. You're preaching to the chior babes... I have always believed in positive energy.
With anything that happens in your life good or bad, you have choice on how you want to deal with it. It's really simple: 1.) you focus/dwell on the negative aspects completely or 2.) you have an awareness of the negatives but ultimately, are focused on comitted to seeing the positives. Sometimes when a negative can consume us, we just need a nudge from friends or family to creative that sense of awareness of the positive. |

happiness is walking down the street and feeling warm sunshine on my face.
happiness is making my sister a huge brunch and her being super appriciative. happiness is being on the basketball court at 6:30am. happiness is planting a huge garden, taking care of it and watching it bloom. happiness is then sitting in said garden and reading for hours. happiness is a tranquil breeze. |

this thread invokes thoughts of my sister.
she went through all the phases. unhappy childhood, unhappy relationships, alocohol, drugs, withdrawal, inward reflection tryin to find oneselve, spiritualism ... won't tell u her current phase but, her path to find happiness and enlightment is pretty typical and common nowadays. |

to me, happiness is leading a productive life. i find that is the one thing that truly helps me get through the day.
otherwise, happiness is just a fleeting feeling. when you acheive a state of happiness, it's human nature to enhance or prolong that feeling, most of the time that just ruins it. it's generally always the little things that we take for granted that make our day, usually without us even noticing it. |

stop listening to people
you are never as awesome or as shitty as people will say learn to laugh no matter how lame or how depressing a situation is, there is some humour in it or something that is worth smiling about even if it's just how shook it's got you there is a time to wallow in self-pity but you also need to move on take family, your friends and your health seriously everything else will go in waves of good and bad but those three things will ground you you can find happiness and comfort in anything |
