^ because I won't be doing what your friend did... I am doing this to start off a much healthier lifestyle and I plan to stick to eating healthy foods and not doing drugs and drinking countless amounts of alcohol, especially not right after I finish cleansing lol.

think of it as being an addict. your body is used to having all the bad stuff, and if you take away the good and the bad, your body will have nothing.

I suggest changing your eating habits.. then after a couple months finish off with the cleanse
yeah that is a pretty good idea too... I wonder if that might be a better way to start off with cleansing my body.... thanks for the advice Carrie :) I think I might try your idea first before I do the complete cleanse, it does sound a bit more sensible than completely cutting out solid foods for 10 days, but I am just so curious to see how it feels to do it!! hahaha

I still think that denying your body the nutrients it need for over a week is unhealthy.

on top of it all.. lemonade doesn't have all the nutrients that your body needs to live.

I'm sure that it will feel much better once your body is used to the idea that it's not getting all the unhealthy food that you used to nurish it with.

^ yeah, you are probably right Carrie lol. your points are making more sense to me now than the points in the article about the master cleanse. I have decided against the cleanse... your method sounds much better and probably a lot easier to complete a healthy transition into a healthier lifestyle.... plus I really wouldn't want to risk having to take a fat detoxifying shit at work one day and stinking up the washroom =P haha jk

PS- kudos to you! your debating tactics have actually won me over, I don't think anyone has persuaded me against something so quickly.

oh really? probably wouldn't have been too good for me then because, even though I haven't been lately, I normally do activities that involve quite a bit of cardio and exercise.

Carrie is so right, a healthy diet and excersise is the best way to have a healthy body. ever since I changed my eating habits, started to take multi vitamins and began to exercise on a regular basis, I am never ever sick, i feel amazing and i am super healthy.(according to the Doctor) So give this a chance first over the cleanse!!!

;) Good Luck

Word - so let me get this straight: drink nothing but lemonade for ten days, all the while feeling like shit, and when you're finished the ten days, you're "cleansed" and feel much better?

Ok, here's my cure for a headache: go get a hammer, and hit yourself in the head as hard as you can, twenty times. When you're done, stop hitting yourself in the head. There, doesn't that feel better?

^ well obviously it's not going to feel all great when your body is releasing all of the toxins and dirty stuff out of your body... you crap it all out, you don't exactly have to do it for 10 whole days you can do it for less or more if you want but the point is to clean out all the gross crap in your colen and digestive tract.... I am not going to do the master cleanse anymore as it is a little too hardcore for me, so I have decided to try an alterior method that will still help me cleanse just not as thuroughly as this one haha.

That is the most retarded thing i've ever heard. You shouldn't believe that. If you wanna cleanse your system try drinking lots of water and cranberry juice. Take multivitmans, eat healthy, and exercise or get outside and do something. That sounds alot healthier then going on the lemonade crack diet.

hahaha!!!! :)

here is some more factual info about the master cleanse that I found to be pretty interesting and informative and helped me understand how it can actually be pretty good for our bodies:

Quote:
Toxemia and Disease

To understand why this therapeutic diet works its necessary to understand what disease is from a holistic perspective. Dis-ease is simply the accumulation of wastes, toxins, or poisons in the body, which in turn creates the myriad of symptomatic illnesses we are seeing so prevalent in people to day.

The glands and organs of our eliminative systems can easily become overwhelmed by wastes from poor diet, lack of exercise, tension, air and water pollution etc. As much as several pounds of waste can literally become impacted in the colon, adhering to the walls. Over time, the waste will then begin to leach into the blood stream. causing it to be re-circulated throughout the body, and settle into the tissues and cells. This settling of toxins is the final step that acts as a precursor to disease because its constant presence weakens the cells and eventually the entire immune system.

It stands to reason, then, that cleansing the body of this accumulated waste serves to rejuvenate the innate healing mechanisms of the body. so that they can function at optimal capacity to restore health and vitality, the less toxicity that is present in the body, the greater our vital force becomes.

Physiological Process

Because the act of digesting food consumes our energy on an ongoing basis, it follows that the elimination of solid food for short periods of time will make the energy normally used for digestion available for the process of detoxification. Thus the first step is to stop eating food so that the lemonade drink can commence Is work.

Because the lemonade drink is easily assimilated, it places little or no demand on the digestive system. Fresh squeezed lemon juice is a powerful cleanser for the body, and is also high in vitamins. Additionally, it is the only fruit or vegetable to contain cationic and anionic minerals.

Lemon also helps loosen and break up mucus in the body. Mucus is one of the body's defenses to protect it self against irritations. When too much mucus settles in any one area, dis-ease is the natural outcome.

Those of you familiar with colour therapy will also know that lemon, when consumed fresh squeezed, releases the colour that stimulates the body to cleanse itself.

Cayenne pepper, another key ingredient of the diet, breaks up this mucous and acts as a cleanser for the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory systems. It is used by herbalists to treat a wide range of problems and to enhance the effectiveness of many other herbs.

The maple syrup provides energy from an unprocessed sugar which still contains many of its original nutrients.

On the subject, the absence of minerals and vitamins in processed sugars makes the digestive system rob the body of these precious nutrient stores in order to metabolize the sugars. If too many processed foods are eaten, the pancreas seems to one of the first organs affected, often resulting in hypoglycemia and then further deterioration of the pancreas.

The herbal laxative tea is used to stimulate peristalsis of the colon, since the only other way to do it is to eat a diet high in fibre. The lemonade drink, or Master Cleanser, having no fibre, must use a laxative to remove the waste as it is being shed from the colon wall, otherwise it will stay in the body, leading to tiredness and any number of problems.

Now, pay close attention, because what you are quoting is NOT SCIENCE.

NO. The accumlation of wastes, toxins or poisons in the body is called POISONING.

disĀ·ease (n.):

1. A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms.
2. A condition or tendency, as of society, regarded as abnormal and harmful.
3. Obsolete. Lack of ease; trouble.

If this is science, then "vital force" must be a metric - that means, if we know that "vital force" exists, we must be able to measure it. How much "vital force" does a healthy person have? What is the unit of measurement? Grams? Millilitres?

I'm not saying holistic medicine is all bunk - lots of people actually do make poor diet and environmental choices that lead to long-term problems. If you live next door to a pesticide factory, it stands to reason that you'll see health problems, and the fix is to move away from the factory, not treat the symptoms. Most of western medicine just treats the symptoms - but the fact is, holistic medicine doesn't have a real measure to it, so the 'holistic doctor' can just as easily be someone with 30 years of practice, or someone with a touch of schizophrenia sitting in their apartment coming up with theories about how the body works. Perhaps they "stand to reason", but do they stand to the scientific method?

"The world is flat" stood perfectly to reason for many years.

Sorry if I'm coming off like a jerk above... I'm actually not trying to be an ass, just trying to make sure you understand what you're quoting as "factual":

Come. On.

yeah your totally right I misused the word "factual" I should have used something different but anyways, to each their own.. I mean I am not going to go do this whole master cleanser, as by reading it, I have also come to the conclusion that I am not in a state where my body would need it.

I was just trying to show that for certain people that have put A LOT of crap into their bodies, it can actually help to clean it up.... I could see this cleansing diet helping for someone who is really overweight and eats really unhealthy foods because it would probably help them clean out all the nasty shit from their digestive tract, if they are able to stick to the guidelines that is.

edit: but I am sure there are a lot of other detoxing diets out there that allow you to eat fresh fruits&veggies and other natural healthy foods along with drinking lots of water and natural fruit juices that would help cleanse the body aswell... you know, so that you aren't completely starving yourself of solid foods.

yeah now that I have moved out I have the ability to be more picky with the groceries I buy to ensure it is only good stuff being put in my body. My mum was one of those bargain shoppers so sometimes she wasn't always making sure it was organic and what not hehe. I am really liking this independance thing!
