Back to school means back to work for me! The kids are great - I totally missed them. My classroom assignments are fabulous, with super kids and amazing teachers to work with. This year (now that it's all sorted) is going to be grand! One of my fave teachers is returning (suprise!) and I'll be with her in the morning, then in the aftn I'll be with this wonderful teacher I was teamed up with last year and wow I just know I'm gonna have lotsa fun ALL DAY (AND GET PAID!!!) :)

i'm sooo stoked for my program this year - gonna be some of the hardest work of my life but i'm more motivated than a bitch in heat.
i finally bit the bullet and quit my job cuz work stressed me out way too much last semester, i'm in the process of moving into a place alone, and am just going to throw myself into school.

it was really strange running into friends after not seeing them all summer and things were instantly back to the way they used to be.
today btwn classes a bunch of us went over to the brewery and picked up cold beer then drank it atop a grassy hill in the sun facing false creek.
good good times.

School, yay.
I was so not lookingforward to coming back after my most amazing summer vacation, but all things must come to an end.

Im living up on the Hill (SFU) and so far res life looks liek its goign be preaty cool this year. Hopefully not too much thogh cuz i really would like to do well in my classes. I just got into the business program though so my GPA isnt all that important anymore.

So far classes look good- except accounting. yeuak soooo boring, but I have to take it :(

OH on a side note.. for anyone that lives up at SFU, or is up here at night, did you know that the AQ now has these killer spotlights that make a pyramid over it? it looks fregan Kill! Theres one on eac\h corner of the building. I saw it this night for the first time ever and it was easily one of the most beautiful things about sfu at night. At night the AQ & its courtyard look amazing.

My first week of classes went alright. Except for missing my first ENGL 206 lecture.

Second year is weird. I feel so old seeing all the new people around with their red SFU folder things they got from orientation. Plus I've got two 100-level classes and I kinda feel weird being in it. I'll manage.

All my classes seem pretty interesting. Except my two-hour poli sci lecture will be a killer. It has one of those really boring profs that don't know how to use a mic properly, and speaks so damn softly.

Hmm so much reading to do.

^^ oh man I just had communications 150 today and my prof cant use the mic at all, his voice gets all muffled and its so hard to understand him. Coupled with the fact they he was tlaking about compleatly useless info first class like quotes etc. i had to struggle not to fall asleap in the first lecture.

I have a blue UBC clipboard/folder thing. I love watchng people give me funny looks for using it at SFU Muahaha. Like today i was sitting beside this girl, and she obviously was all shocked by my folder so she tried to discreatly signal to her friend that i had a UBC folder by tapping the SFU symbol on the front of her folder and then kindda nodding in my direction. It was so blatently obvious she might as well have gotten up and started yelling "OMG that kid has a UBC folder...!)

Started Advanced Calculus for Engineers last week, thank god my Law for engineers got cancelled. I don't think I could handle both courses and a full time job together.

Other than that actually attending a class on campus again is nice and refreshing, online courses get boring after a while.

We jumped in to everything head first so it's been an information overload. There's only 4 other people in the program and the teacher rocks, so it's been a blast in that regard.
They just built the course 2 weeks ago so we're pretty much guinea piggin it.

Ya the campus does have a lot of concrete, but if you look at the design its phenominal. The architecture is so cool. I dno maby its just cuz my mommy is an architect and iv been raised staring at buildings, but still. The idea of square building raised on pillers, with a courtyard in the middle and an entire compleatly underground floor is just cool. And all the crazy halways and other random useless tunnels are jsut so cool. I want to go play airsoft in the campus late at night, i would be so much fun.

Haha I am first year at SFU and I have the red folder, though I see ALOT of people with the blue folder still. What classes do you have at the 100 level?

I might be living in rez within a week... looking forward to being cooped up on the mountain. My classes are good, all my profs seem to know what they hell they are talking about though I transfered from French 210 and now I am in ARCH 131. Woo hoo for SFU, so excited about the prospects.

SFU is beautiful. I took my friend up there and gave him a big tour and he was amazed. He had heard many bad things about it being like a prison (apparently the fact that someone who designed prisons designed SFU is a rumour [read The Peak]), but he was actually impressed. It does seem a little prison-y, but it's not ugly by any means.

The architecture is great, and I like the contrast between the concrete and greenery.

BTW, are you a CMNS major? What's 150? I don't think I've taken that. I was a CMNS major, but I switched to ENGL because it's better for me lol.

I started UBC again as well, 2nd year engineering here.

The whole first week has been a giant gongshow... haha it's been awesome, but the fun stops when you have to hit the books later on.

School's been going great and although I am going to miss the summer care-free atmosphere, I am actually excited about cracking some books open. I know in a few weeks I am goign to be shooting myself in the head... but hey for now I am looking foward to it. Gotta love the books.. with two history courses (106 and 223), an English course (105) and an Archaeology course (131) I am not going to be short on my reading. SFU is gonna be rad :D

Gotta love the angular designs and the AQ with it's detail and pond. Probably one of my favourite places to sit and read, well at least until it gets cold... then I am sure sledding down the hill is gonna be awesome :D

Interesting, I'm the exact opposite... at 21 I'm one of the youngest in my final year of computing science.

They dropped the math on us first week and I'm already knee deep. The only nostalgic feeling is the math textbooks ramming themselves repeatedly into my skull.

There's lots of hot first years though! Always the best part of a new school year!

shitty =(

i should be back teaching highschool but i got layed off AGAIN and so i'm back to subbing in richmond. so far i haven't got called in to work yet- which is just as well because being a sub blows (all the shit i put Teachers On Call through as a student are reeeeeally coming back to haunt me!).

boo-urns to funding cuts in education (epecially ART, which i teach).

now to hope some old teacher drops dead so i can *maybe* get a job. (not that i really want that to happen, btw)

*sigh*
