a couple of my friends worked in a home setting 1:1 or 2:1 at night.... then would go and work in the vocational setting during the day. crazyness. They would get paid like 12/hr to sleep. lol.

There are reasons why teachers will make you do thigns like a group project, give an oral report infornt of an audiance, give you a short periode of time to finish a report. Constantly practicing these work habbits will only help you get better and better wich will help you perform much better in yoru future job.

When I took my special education course I already had a load of experince working with kids who have a variety of special needs. We had hardly any hands on experince while takign the program. I think what I gaind most while take the pogram was proffessionalism, highly improved my work ethnic skills, reading and writing skills, study and resurch skills. ie. alot of the projecst we did were based on finding rescorses/looking for information... because constinly in my job I am looking for new stratagies and the most current of resurch info to help me do my job better and better.

I agree, that is a very valid point. I just think that the majority of people have the wrong idea about a university degree. I know that University is definatly different than I envisioned it to be. Not a bad experiance though, i love it here, and wouldent leave for anything.

I'm still on my "pre-grad school break."

of course, that started 8 years ago :-\. I like making money too much and being able to forget about my job when I go home unlike studies... I may go back and do my masters or phd (probably cultural studies) one day but probably not till i'm fully financially secure enough to do it full-time (i.e. I win the lottery)

Does he have a girlfriend?
LOL :P

As for all of you who are bragging about how well your business(es) are doing and how much cash you're raking in...you may want to learn how to spell the word BUSINESS.

*sigh*
THAT my friends is why an education is soooooooo valuable.

Therefore I plan on going back to school soon again and upgrading to a degree, probly in teaching. Im giving myself about 10 years to complete it as im also going back just for the sake that I believe I can get my degree in uni. Besides taht ppl go back to school at any given age... one teacher I know when back at the age of 50 to get her masters, because you can never stop learning :)
yeah plus she automatically gets a raise to 80k a year. hehehe

i just got out of university, but ill be back in spring of 2007 between now, then and the rest of my life i will always be studying for certifications, and continuing education requirements. ive also decided that i want to be able to speak french, spanish and italian before i die, therefore ill probably be in school forever because im a geek like that.

Someone successful IN the field, or a socialist teacher anda textbook?
apprenticed mechanics need to go to technical school to get their tickets.

if you take a survey of the CEO's, Vice presidents and upper management of most large canadian firms and i gaurenttee that the vast majority of them have a university educastion, and amongst those most of them will have graduate level education. You cant apprentice to be an investment banker, corporate lawyer or CEO wihtout formalized education.

yeah, and those are all honourable professions that pay well but they only pay 80K a year tops, and even a wicked mechnaic will charge 80 bucks an hour. do you know that the AVERAGE corporate lawyer charges over 300 bucks an hour? trades are well paying positions and certainly rank high on the pay scale but the reality is that they make a pittance compared to extremely well paying jobs which all pretty much require graduate as well as undergraduate level university education.

sales and the non analytical aspects of marketing may be relatively easy to learn without delving into a classroom setting but how many trades/bidnez apprentices get taught financial analysis/management, logisitcs, inventory control and accounting in their courses? those are tools you learn in school and are absolutely essential for the operation of a successful business.

ya it took me 3 years to go back. and i decided to take a crunch course in business........which is super trying at times but in the end i finish what normally would be a two year course in one year. my main goal was to be able to make a decent amount of money while exercising my brain.......serving is great and all but doesn't take much brains!
