Do you _Ever_ Plan on going back to school?
I recently went back to school after dropping out of university and taking a long break and.. I happen to know of a lot of talented/intelligent people on this board who have 9-5 jobs (some internet based) and are not in school/do not have a degree or concrete schooling in the past....was wondering if people who are NOT in school right have it in their cards to go back? Are there people who don't plan to?
Just wondering how important education is...do you think its possible for any one to not go to school but still "make money"? |

I don't think I would ever go back to school. Maybe if i actually knew why i wanted to go there. A lot of my friends fucked up their first couple of years of school by partying and missing classes, so if i go back it's do actually accomplish something. Catch my driftwood?

I always intended to go back, I wasn't ready until now.
The greatest part is that everything is falling in to place - I get to skip all of my first and second year classes because I'm already in management, so I essentially only have 2 years to go before I graduate with my BBA. Gawd I love internet schooling. |

totally plan on going back. im so sad for not being there this year but i just cant afford it right now. and i plan on going back for two programs - textiles diploma\degree and my ece.
eventually i believe i will want to get my bfa but at this point in my life im not ready to strap down and study just one aspect of the art i create. too much of a free spirit right now. |

I already finished a certificate/diploma program and I love my career so far, but it wont do if I ever have to raise kids on my own or want to buy a porche.
Therefore I plan on going back to school soon again and upgrading to a degree, probly in teaching. Im giving myself about 10 years to complete it as im also going back just for the sake that I believe I can get my degree in uni. Besides taht ppl go back to school at any given age... one teacher I know when back at the age of 50 to get her masters, because you can never stop learning :) |

I believe university/a degree is basically just a fall back, a safety net... a sure thing, what ever you want to call it. In order to make REAL money you need to go in to bussiness for yourself. I'm in my first year of running my own program as an independant contractor, and so far I've cleared well over 50 000 since January, nearly 60. Their will be ups and downs, times when you think you're on top of the world, and times when it all falls apart. At one point I was on pace to break 100 this year, but thats a bit out of reach now. I'll probably land somewhere around 80.At one point I had saved 10 000 in my account, and then in a turn of events I had one horrendous month and I lost 8k out of my savings. Making real money is only going to happen in the bussiness world. It'll only happen if you take risks. I usually ask the opposite question; is it possible to go to school, get a degree and 'make money'? |

The other day i realized that the richest people i know have NO concrete education background. Most of them just have their highschool diploma. |

I'm not to argue that people with no education make more money. cause that's not true. What i see is that even if 99% of the people with no education aren't doing that well, the %1 are making bling in huge portions. and this 1% people most likely dropped out because they saw a bigger picture. Bill Gates dropped out to execute a business idea. Some people, however, would not give a fuck. Even if they saw the opportunity to make a lot of cash during their time of studies, would reject it in a heartbeat. These people would feel doltish with no education. I don't think i'd ever drop out for a chance to get rich. |

think about what you're saying. all the people wanting to be mechanics oughta find a "successful" mechanic and become his understudies? please. Winning businesses out there are huge corporates, and they won't give a fuck if you have experience working with the mike and the mechanics. They'd wanna see that you know your shit bookwise because that's what matters. |

^ I think to be successful in business you need BOTH.
I know that if I executed my business plan right now, I would be ROLLING in the dough. However, I'm taking the more intelligent route. I'm working for a large corporation that has so many programs in place to make sure that their managers are the best of the best. I'm working on my BBA. I'm LEARNING about all the bumps that businesses go through so that when it's MY business I'll know how to handle them, and how to rebound. I choose to make good money now, and get an education, so that in the future I will be able to make GREAT money and operate an extremely succesful company. My degree will also be invaluable because if I ever choose to get out of doing business for myself, I will have not only the experience, but the necessary piece of paper to get me in with another corporation. My advice to you, Alex, is to get some sort of formal education in business. I'm doing my degree online - you should look in to it. |
