To rock the $200+ republic jeans or not
I'll start by expressing my love eye on the Victoria Beckham jeans ive seen for months now. Yet the price tag says $299.00!!! Now I think if you really love somthing that much and can sacrifice a few things to make it more affordable... I think why not and GO FOR IT!
However to me spending anymore than $100-$150 on jeans is literaly SICKENING! It wasnt too long ago I remember spending $80-$100 on jeans which was a treat, but now I walk into Aritzia and the lowest priced jeans are $150!?! Last I remember about 5 years ago and the most expencive pair of pants you would find there were slacks at around $110. But now it seems like it's nromal to spend such a rediculouse amount on jeans. What scares me even more is to think how do teenagers talk their parents into paying that much for them? As ive already seen alot of highschool girls sporting the Victoria Beckhams and Sevens :( Anyways back to my love for the Rock Republics... So I started talking to one of the sales girls at Aritzia who trys to convince me, Although there alot more, they last along time. So either get one pair of these or by a bunch of mavis over a period of time. Well shes good and has me thinking now. I mean really if there a much higher quality and going to last longer, is it still worth it to pay that much for jeans? Or am I being sucked in? What do you do for jeans? How often do you buy them? And whats your limit or thinking on this scandel? Last edited by Ree Fresh; Sep 09, 05 at 01:05 AM. |

i've always had trouble with jeans. im pretty cheap when it comes to buying clothes for the fact that i either get paint on them, re-make them or end up not likeing them 4 months later. so i used to not spend more then $30 on jeans. they only ever lasted me about three months - stitching would come undone, buttons pop off, pockets rip.
then i received a gift certificate for lougheed mall for $50. decided to drop some money on a really good pair of jeans. picked up a pair from american eagle for $80 and those things lasted for a year. they took one hell of a beating - including welding, working in the shop and basic wear and tear. they also fit me properly which was always hard to do as my quads have always been bigger then my hips\butt so my jeans were always baggy on my ass and droupy. i dont like stretch jeans and finally finding a pair of real jeans was amazing. i loved them. the next year i baught the same style and again they lasted a year. that year was up this summer, and being broke again and without a gift certificate, i baught a pair for $13. within about 3 weeks the button came off. what makes that more crazy is that they are about a size or two too big so the button didnt even have any stress on it.... first thing im purchasing when i get a new job will be american eagle jeans. anyways, i cant justify spending more then $80 on jeans. they are just jeans. head to the levi's outlet store, or another place like it. good quality doesnt have to be $300. |

p.s. what i always find funny is when people buy the paint splattered or acid splatter jeans.... do it yourself kids. there was this guy at a club and he was wearing versace jeans which im pretty damn sure were over $100 andthey had the white splatter all over them for that astheitic look. i said "thats sooooooo basquiet." and he didnt get it. nor did any of my friends i was with for that matter but it was halarious to me.

dont buy $300 jeans unless you have a selection of tops that work with them
and you plan on buying more pairs of $300 jeans nothings worse than when the people around you know you're 'dressing up' wild fluctuations in style are ghetttoooo (but im just being a catty girl) |

i'm shocked nev hasn't seen this thread yet.
she's an r&r addict. I've always spent more money on jeans. When I worked at Pharsyde I think I bought every new style of Diesel that came in becaue they always fit me so well. (Sure the discount helped, but after I stopped working there I still paid full price for them because I know I can wear them for several years) The most i've spent on jeans was $250 american this summer. I bought a pair of citizens of humanity jeans in boston. And I love them. I wouldn't even have to think twice about spending that much again on a pair. When I was there I noticed alot of the new sevens and antik jeans have tons of embellishments on them. Sure they are hot but I really wouldn't spend $300+ on them because you wouldn't wear them all the time. I want to be able to wear jeans with everything I own. I'm not saying that i'll ONLY spend over $200 on jeans. Hell a pair of my favorite jeans are from American Eagle and I paid $50. But...I know I can't wear them all the time because they will fall apart if i do. |
