Do you Tip?
I remember back when I was young and didnt have alot of extra money to spend, I barley ever tiped or didnt tip much (sorry) Maybe a quarter per drink or 10% at the resturant. Deffinently never thought of tiping a taxi driver, door/coat check ppl, valet parking and things like that.
However after having a bunch of friends who work the industry I finaly started to give a bit more. Intrusting enough I do notice a diffrence in service when I tip those I im always served by ;) So im curiouse when do you tip and how much? Do you see much of a diffrence? |

Well since I started working in a restaurant when I was 15...I've always tipped a reasonable ammount. I think also because my parents have always tipped well. not too much but around 15% for decent service. In the past few years, I think I tip too much. But since I get tips all day..I'd like people to tip me the way I tip them. Ive noticed that anytime I go to a bar and I leave a large tip on the first round...the bartenders do remember. (I know I do) You never have to wait for your drinks and you get a few rounds bought hee and there. What goes around comes around. Not that I won't serve someone who doesn't tip...I might just take longer to get to them.

You know how you tip the girl at the redroom and now she knows you and is better to you every time? It goes a long way :)
Especially if you are on the guestlist, don't tell me you can't afford a bit of change for the doorgirl...cooome on. ps not tipping is tacky |

I tip depending on the service if its great i give a great tip. Doesnt matter how hawt the waitress is. where ever i go and everyone hires the hawtest ladies so theres more money to go around and it works like a charm. I sometimes get the urge to go over to the kitchen and give them the tip as they made my meal and they get the shit end of the tip pool if there is one. Just makes more sense than giving it to the blonde bimbo that walked my food the 5 feet to my table.

Depends on the service I get.
Bartenders: somewhere from 50 cents to a buck per drink... if I'm feeling especially nice I'll way overtip and they'll load up the liquor for the rest of the night. Food service: 15% for standard service, more for better, less for worse. Never leave no tip though. Leaving a bad tip tells them their service was poor. Leaving no tip tells them you're an asshole. Cab: "Keep the change". If it's like $4 I'll hand 'em back a buck or two and whatever the small coinage is. Valets: Don't drive, not an issue. Hairdressers: (how many knew about that one?) $5ish, depending on the quality of the cut. I usually go to the same person, though, so she usually gets a more. |

Also are favorite bartender... I totaly came out of know were and as soon as she saw me she gave up her long line of ppl :kam: Sometimes I think bouncers should have tip jars too. I think this is usualy how I figure my tips: Sloppy/Slow/Bitchy serivce : no tip $.25 (tip jars), 5-10% Medium/Average Service : $1- $2 (tip jars) 15-20% Awsome Service (good sugestions/fast empressive service/doing a favour) : $2+ (tip jars), 20-30% Last edited by Ree Fresh; Sep 16, 05 at 01:03 AM. |

ya i m usually pretty laid back in my serving.. i serve alot of business people at lunch time.. so they dont like to be talked to alot cause theyre usually on a business lunch.. but once that crowd leaves its nice to get some regular people in who are just there to eat and chill.. then i can chat them up.....
ok.. so here is another question.. what do you consider good service?.. im always trying to think of new ways to up my service points to make better tips....... |
