ya I totally agree with this.... I mean christ there so immature that they will try and get away with it by not bringing and I.D ... Well that method has been used constantly... gets so old now... A good method to get the young girls away is to bring coolio again.... christ I saw some fear in some of those kids' faces... they had no idea what to think as to what they were seeing...

And also I wouldn't mind manning the doors at an event.. I would scare them away...

I started when I had just turned 15 and didn't go to another one till I turned 16 E was the first substance I ever took. Mind you I did go for the music, I popped very very rarely and for those who know me, they know why.

There's a lot to talk about in terms of my own personal experience.
I personally don't wanna dwell into giving too much information about myself to someone like you.

All you hear about at raves now is the fact that there are VERY little kids at parties. EVERYONE says it. People no longer go because of it.

I'm also throwing this out because this is being done everywhere now and it's being met with great reviews.

At the end of your rant, you imply: Enforcce this rule and you're changing what a rave is in Vancouver.

You know what I have to say about that?

GOOD!

I'm sorry but when you're 13 what grade is that? 9? 10?
NONO it's grade 8!

I enjoy raves still, and a club night is much diffrent then a rave, come on you should know that. You get multiple headliners at a rave and you get one at a club. You get to see multiple smaller talents and big talents at raves, whereas you only get 1 maybe 2 at a club.

Also, when I'm overlooking the crowd and a 13 year old is wearing fishnets around her body with a sticker around her tater tots it makes me want to throw up. If you get your jollies out of that.. well once again I'm not one to judge =)

You said "I'd rather see kids at raves than getting into sensless fights in parks any day" well guess what.... they're still gonna be at that park.

But hey, I appreciate your view on it. I was wondering who would speak up for the other side. As you can see, many people believe the same thing I believe and that is a 16+ age limit makes the majority of the people happier.

hahahaha, spank your children if they go to raves, untill they are sixteen, or they can pass.

i agree with most people here as there should be a 16+ age limit. I know many people stared partying at 14/15, but really, do you think thats good to be going out all night at that age. and most of these kids are still immature at that age,and the drugs their doing deffinalty doesnt help.
i would support promoters if they chose to put an age limit on partes.

I would aswell I for one wouldn't of wanted my sister to go to a rave at 14 or 15 though if she decides to go now that she is 17 I would have no qualms with it.

Out of curiosity where is this being done now? I know they have some sort of preventative legislation in Ontario, right? If Boodang has been successful with this policy, then congrats to you guys. I'm not disagreeing with you that some kids make poor choices.

Not a rant, Anjew. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here. And just to clarify, when you change the demographic attending your show through enforcing age restriction rules, then you are changing the dynamic of your show, so yes, you are changing the rave and the way in which you do business.

Agreed.

As I stated before, I don't endorse these kinds of choices among youth, I'm simply saying that you shouldn't generalize all kids into this one category. And if you want to start ranting about fashion and early exploration of sexuality amongst young teenagers, then I suggest you blame modern media :p

Always happy to stick up for the underdog :) But while we're talking about age restrictions, why not restrict older people from attending raves? You don't like an 16 year old girl wearing fishnets and a mini-skirt? What about the 30 year old steroid monkey who's all over her while she's so messed up she doesn't know what's going on? Again, just playing Devil's Advocate. On the one hand you have kids who are perceived as being too young to attend these events. Well there are alot of seedy older people there who shouldn't be, either. I know, the vast majority of 20 or 30somethings at raves arn't like this. My point, again, is that you can't just lump everybody from a certain age group into one category.

PS Just to clarify, the preceeding was not a rant. This is simply a debate.

It's hard to say, yes the kids that go to raves can be quite annoying and some of the girls, the way they dress, makes me wonder where the eff their parents are when they leave the house, but at the same time, there is no place for 15, 16, 17 year olds to go and have a good time, dance etc. As for the 19+, I would vote no for the same reason, there isn't anything to do unless you are 19 almost anywhere... but maybe I am just saying that because I am 18.

I think Seattle runs some age restricted raves I am sure there are other places..

It doesn't really change your demographic all to much as 16 is not that old but I feel it is old enough for someone to be at a rave and what is involved at a rave. At 13 or 14 your mind hasn't even come close to being fully developed 18 - 25 is when the mind fully developes especially your impulse and control center.

I totally agree with putting a 16+ age limit on parties. And any promoter willing to do this I will mos def support.
I mean, when you're under 16 you really shouldn't be doing drugs and staying out all night like that. I know a few girls who started in the rave scene before the age of 16 and almost every single one of them ended up a drug addict, not saying that they all do but they can be rather impressionable.
And I disagree with whomever said that doing so will change what a rave is in Vancouver. Raves aren't about silly little teenyboppers running around all high on drugs in their booty shorts giggling about how they lied to their parents so they could come out that night. Raves are supposed to be about the music, and sure drugs have a tendency to come into play but at least with a 16+ age limit hopefully there will be less stupidity about it.
I'm not trying to cut down anyone who is 16 and under, but a rule like this is definitely needed in some cases. And it doesn't even have to be every single party, just quite a few of them.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents on this. :)

WoW~ i started raving when i was 14...but i didnt do any drugs untill i was almost 16~ i vote yes for the 16+ rule just cuz all the 13,14,15 year olds i see are sooo damn stupid they over do everything just cuz they think they cool~ i never went around tellin ppl i went to raves b4. I just kept it a secret...with my parents my dad went to a rave once to pick up my cousin cuz he didnt like it, and he liked it.
He said everyone seemed happy and he didnt care if i went~LoL

but i just really prefer not to see a group of like 12 little 13/14 year olds at raves wearing lingerie thinking they're cool cuz they stay up all night doing drugs~ i think its bad I do it.... i mostly go more cuz of the music...drugs come in if i get bored or tired but ive done LOTS of parties sober and i enjoy them alot more too

These young bodies nead the rest, their bones and everything is growing and building up for their adult life, where it will de-generate eventually.

Sleeping helps the body, sleeping too much is not good either, but not sleeping at all, especially while your body is maturing, I think it is very harmfull.
sleep dep is serious shit,
cant concentrate on yer school work kids?
Go to sleep!
quit reading this stupid forum page, go to sleep.
Slllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeppppppyyyyyyyysle eep.

Sorry, I meant a stranger.

Where is it being done? I rmeember al lthe USC events were also 16+, I woudlnt' say it's just Boodang in Alberta as all promoters are starting to revret to it.
The prairies are all the same I know winnipeg is doing it.
In the other post you said something like you talked to a cop and he was thankful for a safe venue for the kids to do this stuff?

Hey, I've talked to cops too and they believe the 16+ is a beautiful essence to a party.
You said that if we were to enforce a age limit then we would be taking some of the concept out of a rave? You'll notice that people here are saying 19+, well I don't agree with that cause then it truly would be taking out the essence in a rave. That's why I thought 16 was a great age to put this on.

I could break your rebuttal down as well but... I'm tired and I need to start my homework :)

I do however hope people appreciate both views.

im not for the 19+ rule, just cuz then a rave would basically be a club but all night.
Raves arent just for older ppl but not for kids 13 is way too young 14 is young 15 is acceptable and 16is ok too....id probably say 17+ is better...

I am a big fan of 16 it seems like a golden number old enough to drive a car old enough to party all night if you do choose so.
