I find this pill ironic. So many women fear or take hormonal pills when they reach menopose... so what is this... the early menopose drug?
Also if you were to take this pill when your young... wouldnt itstop you form developing? IE tits??? Guys were talking titless and no intrest in sex women here :p |

Studies have shown that not getting your period is healthier for you, and can reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. As well as other types of cancer that women are at risk for in their reproductive organs. But with the good comes the bad, which are bone density issues. These can be taken care of with a calcium supplement. I am currently on Depo-provera, and I don't get a period. Prior to the shot I was no different than I am now. No more and no less empathetic, sympathetic, or nuturing. By nature, I am none of these. I don't have any less of a sex drive either. I have been on the shot for over 7 years. |

ok, considering a large amount of women are on birth control, do any of you realize that the during the placebo week where you bleed is not considered a 'real' period???
a 'real' period consists of ovulation and thickening of the lining of the uterus, something birth control pills inhibit (i.e. to prevent conception, duh). so to have an actual menstrual cycle while taking the pill is kinda paradoxical don't you think? the bleeding you get after you take your placebos or stop taking the pill is considered a 'withdrawal bleed', a side effect of withdrawing from the synthetic hormones. so lou_belle, are you saying that all women on hormonal contraceptives are not 'real women'? really now...... --Joanne :P |

It is a lining that builds up in the event that a woman gets pregnant. It is so the egg has something to attach itself to in the event of fertilization and protect a baby in the womb. If the egg isn't fertilized, and there is no pregnancy, the uterus sheds the lining and egg and starts again. It isn't natural for women to get a period, it is natural for them to have 7 to 10 children, naturally suppressing the period. Birth control and regular consistent periods are a byproduct of a modern lifestyle. Next you're going to say it is unclean and gross to not get your period. |

i think you girls would be crazy to take something like that, who fucking knows what its gona do to you 10-15-20 years down the road.
imagine you start taking it then 2 years later they find out it leads to hardcore birth defects and shit sounds like bad news to me. |

This research is no where near new. Doctors have been suppressing periods since the beginning of birth control to treat things like Endometriosis.
Birth defects can happen, if you continue to take things that would stop your period, but if you were willingly trying to get pregnant, I doubt you would be taking anything like that. |

I know that a lot of birth control methods take away your period - i was on Depo Provera for about 2 years, and I didn't have my period for most of that time... you would think that would be an awesome thing, but really I don't believe that we know what we are doing in these regards... Like humans (and periods) have been developing for thousands of years, and we decide in a decade that we can just alter it and there's not going to be some horrible side effects? The reason I stopped Depo was that they finally discoverd (AFTER me doing it for so long) that it causes horrible calcium deficiency and it's NOT recommended to take for over 2 years (which I did) AND that anyone who was under like 19 who is still growing should not take it either (and I was like 17 or something)... so basically, I could have screwed up my bones and shit and they never even knew... humans are just not smart enough to be dealing with this shit that they don't understand... or at least, so I think...

Also, Mr. Garrison: Well, I'm sorry, Wendy. But I just don't trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die. Finally, Ladies, let's not discount that cherished moment of relief each month when you get your period and know you're not pregnant. I think it would be disconcerting to go for a few months without that... |

Not only would that never be the question to cross my mind, it makes me wonder why it would cross yours. Birth control isn't my only method of protection. Doctors also test you every 3 months when you get the shot. And even when I am not sexually active, I still get the shot, I don't mind not having my period. |

I could also quote your SO fucked up opinion that it's more dangerous for a woman to have her period than it is for her to take man made hormone pills for seven years. Yummmay* Your stagnant uterine lining is only seven years young eh? |
