Apple Laptop Sales?
well i waited and waited, and i finally got the funding, so im desperate to find where i can find any sort of deal on a new ibook??? I havent seen anything from london drugs or a few off the flyers that heads were nice enough to post, so im thinking my best option would be to check out the apple store on broadway?
any thoughts? |

Apples prices are fixed and there aren't very many sales to be had.
The best place to try for a discount is the UBC Bookstore. They have student only/educational pricing there and you could probably talk someone on the campus to use their ID to help you buy it. |

Mac Market on 4th and macdonald. I beleive most of there stuff is 2nd hand but dirt cheep for mac equipment. Ive heard good things froma few ppl and so far the g4 tower I got from there seems to be working fine (asuming I still need to learn a few things)
Why Mac? Once you get use to it... they rule! Great quality and very easy to use. Almost a little too simple to use :p |

the only thing you really can do with apple's is either find an inside man. I got one, if you want a deal.
or.. you can wait for a new hot item to come out, then buy the model your interested in, cuz then the price will go lower for clearance. |

WTF!?!?! HAHAHA! Ive been rockn a pc for my entire life, and after a little less then three months on a mac (the one i purchase wont be close to the g5's im using @ bcit) Ive been sold. So fucking easy to use, im partial to the operating system in general, and popular informed opinion says STABLE PLATFORM! I think i agree. Ive been informed i can rock soulseek, and i have been doing major design work on one for awhile now, and honestly im in love. Id love to wait until they slap in the intel chips in em, but im tired of waiting, and i never really played the "lets wait for whats hot" game with electronics. Ive waited long enough to get peoples feedback, done the research, field testing, and i say FUCK YEAH TO MAC!!! but boourns to ~3801$ apres tax :( |

anti-apple doesnt talk about why they think macs are crap? The graphics elements, speed, troubleshooting and stability all seem to be comporable so whats the deal? It seems like there are a just as many opinions there are for, as there are against? BAH!

Dont worry bout them. Apples are waaay better, Virus Free machines. No slowdowns no matter what, they turn on like a lightswitch, and off too. Very stable machines. the people that talk shit about them are the ones that have never used them ever before. even if you sit behind a mac for an hour and get to know some elements, you will be convinced.
dont get an iBook get a PowerBook with superdrive. i suggest personally the PowerBook 15". Very nice. Easy to handle and very strong metal cover. The iBooks are plastic, and seem flimsy. but they work good, but are better for stationary use, not moving them around too much, they are made from thin plastic it seems. Powerbooks have a metal body. But if you do get an Apple laptop, make SURE you buy a keyboard protector. a rubber one. cuz it is easy to scratch the screen by opening and closing the laptop, where the keys hit the screen. cuz it is very thin and easily flexible. |

Dont be let down by what seems to be a slow processor speed and low ram. Macs make full use of their processor speed and ram when needed. But it works so fast. like a 1.3ghz mac is comparable to a 2.4ghz pc. and 256 ram comparable to 1 gig ram pc, no joke at all.

the plastic used for the ibooks is the same plastic used for bulletproof glass. id be much more comfortable dropping my ibook down a flight of stairs vs. a powerbook
also, not sure where you're getting your info from but the keyboard doesnt touch the screen when you close it |

thx again for the intel yall. Im gonna try to wrangle up a 14" ibook, as the powerbook is far too expensive after upgrading the ram, storage, getting a super drive, opti mouse, a tablet, wireless card+base station, the extended warranty and hunting down some armour i can attach to the body of the laptop. This is already gonna run be ~3800 big ones!

stringbeans...
I know it does not touch, but the screen is slightly flexible so with some pressure, like while carrying it, it does scratch the screen. I know this because i have one, i made the mistake of not buying a rubber keyboard protector. and my screen got scratched. luckily it was early and i exchanged it for a new one. But in any case, it is a good idea to get a keyboard protector. |
