Kraig is a jewel in the roughKraig is a jewel in the roughKraig is a jewel in the roughKraig is a jewel in the roughKraig is a jewel in the rough
How times change!!

So I was doing some research on a video card for a friend of mine that's a serious gamer... I came across this:

The NVIDIA® GeForce® 7950 GX2 features a knockout pair of GeForce processors on one irresistibly powerful board. Resetting the bar for single board graphics performance with amazing 3D horsepower and speed, the GeForce 7950 GX2 enables a lightning-fast, hyper-realistic gaming experience with ultra-smooth frame rates. This dual-GPU board features an astounding 1 GB of fast GDDR3 memory and support for resolutions up to 2560 X 1600. It’s a beautiful thing.

GeForce 7950 GX2
Graphics Bus Technology PCI Express
Memory 1GB (512MB per GPU)
Memory Interface 512-bit
Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 76.8
Fill Rate (Billion pixels/sec) 24
Vertices/second (Billion) 2.0
Pixels per clock (peak) 48
RAMDACs (MHz) 400

Holy fuck... 1GB of memory w/two GPU's on-board. I remember back in 95-96 when I was an IT tech installing 128/256K UPGRADES! LOL. "Wow -- you have 512K cache on your Trident video card... WOW!"

Speaking of which, I'm looking at new MacBooks -- never thought I'd go the way of the Mac but it's all about stability.

the new tiny 13" one? it does look good for a portable "i need a laptop" kinda laptop.

edit:
i've got a 17" big laptop sucker right now...it's huge, it looks good, and plays games at a great clip...but portability is possible but not easy.
