I appreciate your simplistic, arrogant and ignorant stance, but I choose a humanistic approach over a patriotic one. Where do you think the "perks" you and I have, come from? From waving a flag, painting your face, drinking beer and playing hockey? Any rights or concessions that you and I "enjoy" are a direct result of men and women before us, fighting for the rights that are consistently stepped on by capitalist structure and the government. I love this Country, the land + the people who call it home, and it is because of that love that I dissent, fight, and continue to be a humble participant in the struggle for specific human rights of any and all who find themselves without them.
Today we see invigorated attacks on working people, aborignals, immigrants and visible minorities. There are atleast 6 million Indegenous peoples in this Country that suffer an oppressive environment that is a direct result of a five hundred year history of oppression. Today Immigrants face a renewed series of attacks and oppressive legislature. A recent air of fear and distrust, accelerated by attacks on Muslim/Middle Eastern communities expand on this oppression. Last year saw the Governments/Employer agenda to break any and all unions quite cleary with the HEU, TWU, CMG, and BCTF essentially getting sold down the river by their own leadership after being stomped.
