Steakhouses and their price range
I am in search of a steakhouse in the downtown core.....
I have been to various websites, and most of them don't offer their prices with their online menus. Tricky buggers.... Where have you been? What was their price range? How was the food/service? ps - The Keg is not a steakhouse, it is a place where people from the burbs go cause they think it is fancy. |

lol at the keg comment!
I know I don't eat steak but I've been to Gotham. Their price range is a little higher, their service is fantastic but what I had for food wasn't all that great (same goes for the person actually eating the steak) it wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. It's a super nice spot. Just a reccomendation, I know it's not in the downtown core but check out the tasting bar at lumiere. Rather than sitting down to a how ever many course meal at the actual restaurant it's got a pretty good menu and it's a little more casual. The service is amazing and the food is definitely worth the cost (I think a steak there is around 65). I've been there with someone else and with drinks/appetizer/food/dessert the bill was around 150 or so, which isn't bad for a place like that. And their dessert? I could go on for a really long time about it. I know you're looking for a good steakhouse but goddamn do they ever have amazing dessert there. |

Avana...
Like I told you via MSN: - Morton's - Gotham as Myrasauce mentioned Both of those are pricey but tasty. Another cheaper place that claims to be a steakhouse although I haven't been there in over a year is Wilson's on Beatty street. PS: steak at The Keg is mighty damn tasty! |

Neither did Saltlik. Some of the meat eaters asked for reasonable. I am trying to be accomodating. |

Otherwise anywhere else for something tasty is going to be at least 35-50. |

lol @ this thread..
avana.. didnt you make a thread bitching about people asking for advice without trying to get it themselves... in your own words, hun.... ''Phone that person/place or thing yourself.'' http://www.fnk.ca/board/showthread.php?t=95510 Last edited by Ms.Tarantula; Jul 12, 06 at 01:00 PM. |

I was looking for opinions - not someone to do it for me. Calling on the phone is a last resort. Thanks Tips! |

the keg doesnt make good steak... period. even earls/cactus/saltlik uses better cuts of meat at their restaruant. ps. all 3 places uses the same supplier....so if you think you're going to saltlik for good steak.. your getting the same cooking style/cut of steak at earls and cactus. avanas right..just because a place calls themselves a steakhouse doenst make them a steakhouse.. just a marketing gimmik. your prob best with sticking with higher end restaurants like lumiere, feenies, mortons and gothams.

you can't base your opinion on the best sales pitch? Mortons (for example) might tell ya specific information on their cuts which makes them worth over somewhere like the Keg which might not. |

"oh hi i was just calling to see if you think your steaks are awesome? oh you do? great, res for twenty please." of course you can, but you'll get a better idea from an unbiased opiniion. |
