One of my favorite games becomes a movie! I have high expectations because the story line is so demented and far out that they can't screw it up. Peep this.

NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., whose latest "Grand Theft Auto" video game reaped $500 million in a week, said Friday it signed a deal with Universal Pictures to develop a movie based on "BioShock," another hit game.

Financial terms and the movie's expected release date were not disclosed.

Gore Verbinski, the director of "Pirates of the Caribbean," will direct and produce the film, Take-Two said. "BioShock," a critically acclaimed first-person shooter, starts off with the player surviving a plane crash to find an undersea city, Rapture, a "failed utopia whose citizens had embraced genetic engineering before the city descended into pure anarchy."

The game has sold more than 2 million units since its launch last August. By comparison, "Grand Theft Auto IV" sold 6 million units in its first week in stores.

Take-Two is the subject of a hostile takeover bid by larger rival Electronic Arts. A $2 billion tender offer for Take-Two's shares expires May 16.

Shares of New York-based Take-Two rose 19 cents to $26.79 in early afternoon trading, more than a dollar above EA's tender offer price of $25.74.

I have high hopes for Bioshock (the movie), let's hope they don't screw it up. I was just discussing this today - they should hire the creepy girl from Silent Hill to play the little sisters. She was creepier without all the make up and special effects.

When I first heard they would be making a BioShock movie I was pretty excited. With Verbinski directing, I have high hopes for this film, but I just hope they don't change major plot points or characters like what's happened with the Resident Evil franchise. Also, this movie had better be rated R with all the Big Daddy related gore of the video game. I'm just relieved this won't be another video game turned movie travesty direted by Uwe Boll. I shudder to think what that man is doing to the "Far Cry" movie right now.

I hope Kevin Levine is on the writing credits. He's pretty masterful at suspense in video games and I'd like to see that translated a bit into the movie. Thief was the first video game I ever played that made me jump out of my seat.

they definitely do need to stick to the story (aside from the ending which changes depending on how 'good' you are through out the game). All I want is for them to build onto the story more and show more elaborate views of Rapture. How can a movie set underneath the ocean trapped with hundreds of wacked out druggies and oversized robots NOT be suspenseful?!

To answer your question rob. The Mary J plasmid in combination with a free movie pass/ dvd rental would ensure it not sucking.

Uwe Boll is done with FarCry, hes now working on Promoting Postal the movie.

I kinda work with him, Pretty interesting German guy.
