Seeing Q-Bert cut back in '94 got me into turntablism way back when. Went to my first rave around 95 or so and got hooked. Took me several years to get the courage to drop the cash for a set of equipment and haven't looked back since. Z-Trip was the one who got me fully into embracing the mixing of different genres together in a cohesive style and it's been my style of choice ever since. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What type of music do you specialise in? Funk, soul, hip hop, breakbeat, reggae, dancehall, 80s, rock, dnb, mashup, electro, grime, house - pretty much anything that I like. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it? I paid $70 for the Sugarhill Gang remix LP for just one song on the 5-plate set. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - What is your most treasured record and why? see above - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Have you got any funny/horrific DJing stories? mental note: don't try to fix your expensive mixer by yourself when it's still under warranty. Back before I started DJing, I used to joke about how the day I started, (it was only a matter of time at that point) I would call myself DJ "something or other" just so that if someone ever saw me play out and asked who I was, they could reply "oooh... DJ something or other." When the time came that I actually started, I just acronymed it and it stuck. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Who are your influences /or shoutouts? I met Soo (and So Cool) a couple nights ago when he was playing at a little cafe called Rime on Commercial. I was impressed with track selection for sure...and that's saying a lot. :D I hardly ever find any new DJs I like these days. :noworry:
