What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?

I've been partying for a long long time, and when I moved in with my boyfriend (at the time) it meant moving in with dj equipment as well. So I figured I'd learn, no use in being around all that gear and letting it just sit there. He was a really great teacher and I learnt so much from him, using different styles of mixing in different genres. After months and months of frustration, it finally started to click! I still remember the day i had my first beat match. Oh for fucks sakes, I was so happy. And here I am now. Rippin it up and absolutely loving every minute of it!

What type of music do you specialise in?

I'll play mostly electrohouse but it may wander either way to progressive or funky. I like to mix up it up in my sets. No two are the same. I never plan a set, never make a track list to follow. Each and every single time I play is an adventure, and I like to keep it interesting that way.

What is your most treasured record and why?

Benny Bennasi - Satisfaction. I got it signed when he first came to Vancouver and his hype was huge. He was the reason I got into electro. No matter what his deal is now, I'll always remember the first time I laid eyes on him. Pretty starstruck, but then again I was a young little girl, that loved the track and just barely got into the djing thing. I look back at it now and laugh. Only a year after beginning to play out I was given the opportunity to open for my main inspiration at a packed show in Kelowna. That was truly special. Mr.Benassi and I ripped it up to 700 people(sold out show) at a club on a weeknight! One of my most memorable experiences to date.



P.S. I am all digital now, I dont even remember the last time i actually bought a record.

What do you like the most about DJing?

I just love seeing peoples faces light up when you drop something ill. It's definately a high when you see people just loving your style. It's exciting to be part of the entertainment industry, used to being the partyer, now part of the party plans. Feels good. Making people move and love what u love is what I live for.

What does your DJ name signify?

The Marz part is actually my initials.
Maggie Anna Resztak.

I was also born in March - which is Mars in french.
I am an artist and I use alot of black in my paintings, Mars Black.

The name has many meanings to me, and NO it has nothing to do with the planet lol.

Born in Poland and raised in Canada, Miss Marz has taken influence from many sources. Always creative, and musically attuned, she began her journey into the party scene at an early age. Clubbing at 16, creating art both on canvas and through digital mediums, it wasn't until she began expressing herself musically as a DJ that she knew she had truly found her life-long passion. Miss Marz has since become the veritable poster girl for electronic music in Western Canada although it doesn't hurt that she could be a pin-up poster gal, either. This statuesque and sexy mistress of all things banging and funky has captured the hearts of party-goers and house heads wherever she graces the decks. Cutting her teeth in the west coasts top clubs, playing everything from Trance and Techno to her first loves, Electro and House, this woman has consistently pushed the envelope with genre defying sets and vibrant stage presence. Whether playing huge festivals or spinning at intimate private gatherings, Miss Marz packs the dance floor with her flawless mixing and impeccable track selection. Aside from opening for acts like Bad Boy Bill, Anne Savage, Benny Benassi,Paranoid Jack, DJ Wax, Stereo Soul, Capital J, Yvonne Black, Miss Mea, and closing for Dave Armstrong and Scumfrog, she has also played with and is inspired by house heavy-weight Christian Alvarez. Her mixing and beauty aside, one really has to see her in action to appreciate the raw, sizzling energy that is Miss Marz.
