Years spinning the decks: 4-5

What originally hooked you into the DJing scene?

Two separate stories really, one of us ( Zêus ) was a byproduct of the huge rave explosion that happened in Vancouver during the late 90's. We both met at UBC and became close friends due to a mutual love for music. After J-ling was introduced to Dj shows with a performance by Sasha we both agreed that we had found our careers.

What type of music do you specialise in?

We began as independent artists. Zêus had been playing house in BC for several years now while J-ling focused on Trance. When we combined into a single band we were capable of crossing through multiple genre's to really feed the crowds what they want in any given night. More than anything, we've become well known for very high energy performances.

Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it?

Anything bought overseas has cost a pretty penny. I think the entire Daft Punk discography was close to 150$.

What is your most treasured record and why?

Although we use CD decks ( because of the way the industry has evolved ) anytime we enter a club and they have turntables we feel compelled to use them. Nothing can replace the feeling of vinyl on your fingers ... kinda off topic but it'd be too cheesy to say "too many to count".

Have you got any funny/horrific DJing stories?

Well when we started out in 2002, all the parties we could get gigs at were at UBC. That being said you'd stand behind the decks while slews of people kept screaming for us to play top 40 and rap. So we'd try introducing them to some house and get drinks thrown at us ( or garbage ).
As time went on a lot sets were ruined in the tail end of the vinyl era when we'd jump up and down to get energy from the crowd. Low and behold the needle would just fly right off the record.

What do you like the most about DJing?

The sheer experience of unleashing energy upon people. The beautiful thing about electronic music is that unlike other club experiences where you see people using the sound as a medium to only grind and flirt with each other, the crowd is enthralled by the beat. The look on an audiences face when all they want to do is hear the next rise and rock out as hard as they can.

What does your DJ name signify?

The term "delicious" isn't used nearly enough as an adverb in modern language. However beyond foodstuffs it can really describe a sensation, sound, or moment.
