As for your bass... adjusting a bridge is cake, but what I'm confused about is the need to make adjustments to change gauges. Are you going that significantly smaller/larger to warrant a new saddle? What gauge are you currently sitting at?

Hmm, maybe you can solve the saddle problem. I'm not much of a guitar tech. My p-bass has never had a proper set up. No matter what I do, the strings ring like crazy. The only way I've managed to solve the problem is to tape down the strings (ghetto I know).
I figured it was because out of the box Fender saddles are set to take super light strings (like .40-.95).
