There legally has to be a severance package. Minimum of 2 weeks for every year of service for an average person. Managers and executives will get more.
Whether or not you get fired or laid off, you are eligible for severance. I think I learned this in my first couple of classes of Engineering Law. Quote:

You have to see this is getting a little weird. You claim to know about his jobs, girlfriends, school life, pay, how long he worked at a job, how many people interviewed for his job etc. This isn't information that just comes up. You actively seeked this out. I don't think any of us even know your first name. Not because we couldn't figure it out by asking around, but because none of us care enough to. You're quoting second hand gossip, people actually knowing what's going on have come on here and pointed it out time and time again. I'm pretty sure most of your facts are coming from Diva's thread, and just for future reference two ex's that don't get along are not the best source for info on each other. Your welcome to continue calling him a looser, but obsessing this much over someone online is really weird... |

as someone who's been hiring on and off for my department (and various others in the past), I'd like to say that degrees generally mean shit in the workplace. They might warrant a closer look at a resume, but they are absolutely not a looked at with more weight than relevant work experience. Especially when the degree is an undergrad...

i've seen both sides, as a person who's involved in hiring and someone who's education section of their resume is highlighted by highschool AP english and math. |

It seems to be a common problem in schools. A lot of students come out thinking they know everything, but the way it's done in most industries is way different.
At least that was my experience. My program was taught by ex-industry people, but it was taught the way they knew, which wasn't the way it was done anymore. |

I would definitely offer someone with no formal education and 2 years of industry experience more money than a fresh-out-of uni kid who happens to major in a related to my industry.
For most fields - interviews and perceived team fit are probably more important than exp. or education. The resume gets you the interview but you still have to nail the interview. Last edited by dj_soo; Nov 21, 08 at 12:11 PM. |

Actively looking for shit? haha... I wish i could take a cap of my inbox.. I made a post yesterday saying if anybody wants to use me as a proxy to say what they want to say, i would do it, since i don't give a shit about any of you people getting mad at me :)
and about his severance pay... you're making it sound like he was some big executive... he booked djs... alright... WOWWWWWWW.... and on top of that, he booked dj's that would get props from his friends, but not actually make the club money.. maybe that's why he was "laid off" :) |

But on this board, I am the only other person who has ever worked at the plaza club... So by defenition, you are getting unverified gossip... |

I personally think streetsmarts outweigh schoolsmarts when it comes to business (to an extent) but you can easily self educate now in the internet era... my points about him talking about how over qualified he was, was just calling his bullshit. I got 50 bucks saying he doesn't get the job on monday... who wants to take my bet? |
|

well then i guess it's "unverified gossip" from one of his current friends... :)

Even these elusive friends which seem to be clamoring to talk to you, didn't work there, and never did. So yes, it's still "unverified gossip" by it's very nature. What's really cool is that your arguements seem to hinge on "facts" told by his "friends". But there is no way to verify this. It would like me saying "well your friends emailed me". If you really had a comprehension of how to state your points, or if Cubed was as much of a loser as you would have us to believe, you should be able to state your case without relying on, what quite simply could be something you've made up completely. But such is life, as one of your friends PM'd me and told me that you are actually a computer AI that has formed when FNK became self-aware... Wait, that's just stupid... |

blah blah blah...
Did i just get called a loser by a guy who plays rockband 7 times a week, and would have no friends if it wasn't for meeting them through a rave message board?? who also uses the "hey you" section as an alternative to a cellphone ? okay:) |
