Lu Computers is where I plan on getting a new PC. It's out in Ontario and they don't charge any pst, and they are pretty cheap with lots of really awsome setups that can be fully customized, and they have Asus laptops which I think are really well put together.

ncix doesn't have what I want... i'm looking for the Western Digital Passport Studio 500gig - seems to be pretty hard to find around these parts... so far i've found one on tigerdirect.ca which i've heard good and bad things about.

Just gonna chime in to not bother with TigerDirect, I had one experience with them and it was horrible. For one, they shipped from PA and I had to pay duty on it, even though I used their .ca site and they had signs all over the place that said "NO DUTY". Also they lied about the warranty on the item I purchased.

I'm curious, why this drive? I've heard mixed reviews on using non-externally powered drives at shows.

the more i read the less likely i'm probably going to be buying the drive actually...

The reason was that I really want a Firewire 800 drive to work with and I prefer the 2.5 drive for portability. I've been using a Firewire 400 drive (bought the enclosure and drive seperately) with no problems for the last couple of years now and it's just getting a little full.

Just looking at external drives, the only options in the 2.5" realm with firewire 800 are the Lacie Rugged or the WD Passport Studio... if anyone can recommend me a decent enclosure w/ firewire 800 let me know...
