I guarantee people who appreciate a good emcee will be there. I also guarantee there will be lots of white boys fakin' the funk.

I've heard that Mos Def is a pretty devout muslim and doesn't like alcohol at his shows, which might be why it's at the Croatian.

Who's he touring with? Will he have a full band? DJ? What are the details?

Sad i can't make this =(

But this is Mos Def's time, bringing activist rap back to the forefront as Public Enemy and KRS-1 did in the early 1990s (taking a cue from hardcore luminaries Fugazi, he doesn't play venues that serve alcohol). The xylophone-heavy "New World Water" attacks capitalist industry with shark bites not heard since Boogie Down Production's "Beef" a decade ago.
This is old though...from 1999...not sure if it still stands.

He's just a poseur that trend hops. And has no idea that someone who he considers a "hipster" might be way more educated in Hiphop than him.

Anyways yeah, Mos Def does not perform anywhere where alcohol is served. He's a devout Muslim and doesn't want to enable people to drink.

Maybe he's changed now but who knows. Anyone remember when he got Arrested for performing Katrina Clap in public even though he had permits? that's some bullshit... it's on youtube.

That's not true.

The show was originally being set for the commodore and was agreed upon until another promoter came in and sky rocketed the offer.

And I'm telling you that's not the case anymore.

His managers were making plans to bring him by the Bambaataa show last night.

I know!

But the way you quoted it made it seem that the entire bit about him being a dedicated muslim was not true. I was merely pointing that he did in fact boycott places that served alcohol in the past.
