The first artist(s) you ever listened to?

Doesn't have to be Hiphop. Any genre is fine.

Michael Jackson

Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince (and in this corner, homebase)
homebase rules

Also had a Run DMC (tougher than leather) cassette, but honestly back then I didn't really like it. And to this day I respect Run DMC but I just can't listen to them. The newer era of MCing has ruined it for me.

Had a De La Soul cassette (3 ft and rising) but I didn't listen to it much, but now De La is one of my favourite groups. (love the grind date)

I also listened to a lot of "crap" as a kid (snow, mc hammer, vanilla ice) but had other albums too like BBD, Chronic, Black Sunday, Doggystyle. etc...

how about everyone else?

Ah yes, 2Unlimited I remember hearing some of their stuff as well. Though it took me about 5 years later to realize who they were :P

the first stuff i listened to was what my parents had and what was on the radio during car trips. They listened to everything from Elvis Presley, Queen, Bob Dylan, Blondie, Eurythmics, to Buddy Holly and Nat King Cole. There was some random stuff on the radio I liked too like M.C. Hammer and Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky"...

but I never started seeking out my own music until grd.5... Green Day:Insomniac was my first tape( CASSETTE TAPES YUP!!! I HAD LOTS)....

Forgot to say I was into Kid & Play but I didn't have their CDs, just the "House Party" movies. I had a flat-top like him at one point.
