I like living in victoria enough i guess, better weather then van, safer, good environment for school... but i agree it is quite boring. and you do have to get used to the fact that you will run into people you know, everywhere, all the time, no matter what. i also love the fact that everything is 15 min away always, its a trade off thou for the horrible and slow drivers we have |

It's not just the area I lived. I worked right in Victoria, almost downtown. I found alot of the people there very rude, and inconsiderate. I still say the island philosophy is "I'm here, shut the door" |

yeah i've been told that victoria is cliquey and snobby by people not from here... i've always been surprised to hear it but it comes up a lot. wierd.
one thing i hate about vic is the 'who you know' philosophy here, you can't get a job without props from someone, i dont think my resume has been read once, used more of a note pad for 'knows such and such'... meh ill be out soon |

In a lot of ways, I do agree that Vic can be clique and snobby... I spent most of my life living there, and can see why those who move to town feel that way.
Hell, the whole Island can be like that. But I have lived in Toronto and Vancouver as well, as noticed the same thing. When you are just visiting a city, everyone seems really friendly. Move there, and no one you don't already know wants anything to do with you. No Trace: You are right... job hunting in vic is all about who you know. Networking is everything if you want a decent job. |

I'm here in Nanaimo. Been here for about 5 years. I was born and raised in Vancouver and moved over to the island when I was 14. I am city kid. I really enjoy it. And I miss it alot. I go back at least once or twice a moth just to party and have a good time. When i first got here it was horrible. I thought Nanaimo was like the sticks. Out in the middle of nowhere. Where's the traffic, the people, the buildings it was all gone. Takes some getting to use to. But definately want to get back to Vancouver and live there again.

I was fron Ottawa, I moved to BC to attend film school. I first moved to Victoria because I have family there (Just like the rest of Vic, their stuck up pricks). I live there for 4 months and was about to snap. I don't think I could have done that for 5 years. You're a very tolerant man

I grew up in Victoria...
I believe VIctoria is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. However. There is nothign to do... at all. if you have a significant other.... a getaway in victoria for a night would be the best.. and that would be in the summer on a saturday night. or a friday night in the winter. The problem with Victoria is that it's so small and the city basically locks down after 9 pm. If you ever wanted to move to a place to relax and not worr yabout too much.... or if you were looking to retire.. Victoria would be the perfect place. None the less I posted this last year... I wanna get a group of people down to Victoria where we rent scooters for like 12 bucks an hour. that would be fun =D |
