moral/ethical question
You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:
You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again. What would you choose to do? |

Regarding the old lady: First of all, if she only looks like she's about to die, I probably wouldn't take her. Chances are if she looks that way it's not because of the weather, but either disease or old age, or some other reason. I would take her only if I knew for certain that, if she was indeed dying, removing her from the terrible weather would save her life. Otherwise I would probably mind my own business and let her be. Regarding our old friend: Well, given what little context we have, I would say that this person is probably the front runner for the seat in my car. However, I wouldn't offer my seat because of the fact that this person once saved my life. I would probably do it because I know this person, and it is less weird to be picking up an old friend than it is to pick up a random stranger from a bus stop. Regarding this so called perfect partner: Let's just assume that you know this person is your perfect partner based on your brief glance of them (otherwise this example just wouldn't fly). If and only if I knew this was the perfect person for me, and if and only if I knew this was the only chance I would ever get to meet this person, and if and only if I knew that the happiness I would experience with anyone else would not even be close to the happiness I would experience with this so called perfect partner, then I would offer them a ride. Otherwise, no. I don't know if I would have titled this thread as a moral/ethical question. For instance, I don't know if I would shame someone for not picking up one of the aforementioned people during a storm of some sort. Chances are that people don't drive around randomly during these storms looking for people to taxi to their destinations. Usually people drive because they need to go somewhere, and to pick someone up and drop them off at their locations in lieu of their own for me is to go above and beyond any sort of obligations one should have . . . |

I would pretend to call 911 for the old lady, but actually just check my voicemail and pretend i was getting her help.
Then i would tell my best friend that i would BRB and take the girl of my dreams to my car to bone her (14 seconds... or maybe 32 seconds if i have already jacked off previously in the day) .. then after i busted i would tell her i'm gay and kick her out of the car.. then pick up my friend and drive to 7-11 and get those nachos they have there... but instead of pouring just cheese in the dip side... i'll mix it with cheese + chili and then high 5 my best friend and call it a night |

Heh my 'soul mate' is a dear old friend, coincidentally, so my choices just got better. And if I were lucky enough to see her - fuck, who needs going home after that?
YouTube - kissing in the rain - great expectations |

^^^ that scene always gives me chills, I love that movie
It's a storm, assuming my friend and 'perfect' partner are in relatively good condition they could probably wait for the bus and it wouldn't be a big deal. I would give them both an umbrella and drive the old lady home or to the hospital depending on which was necessary. Also, the 'perfect partner' concept is so vague - if they were perfect for me we would probably already be together and you can't really make that sort of assumption based on a glance or a brief instant (well I suppose you could but it's rare). |
