well thats because alchohol is actually physically addictive as well as socially acceptible so alot of people with addictive personalities can get caught up in it.

however, what im saying is alot of people who blaze all day say something like 'its just weed man.' when they should be asking themselves why they gotta be stoned all the time. life is pretty fuckin boring but the least you can do is jack off or work out some of the time in lieu of weed.

that being said after i get back from class tonight im still gonna look for the weed i misplaced on saturday because i got stoned and forgot where i put it.

dancesafe was a good idea becuase they provided much needed information and awareness about the drugs that run rampant in the rave scene and the potential dangers from them.

I know i learned a few things from the pamphlets and information booths. I only did that test thing one time at shambala 02. the lady was nice and she would tell me what colours mean what,how this can affect you, how to party safe and that there are always some unforseen issues that could happen so even though the test said the pill was good i was still to proceed with caution.

i think they did alot more good then harm and the spirit behind it was noble.

Ok, but you're missing my point here. My point is: Weed won't kill you. Altered mind states aside (honestly, eating at McDonald's fucks my head as much as smoking weed does), alcohol can kill you. Weed cannot.

I know why I smoke weed every day. Plain and simple, I get depressed way too easily. Weed is a great antidepressant and has kept me off Prozac or any of its facsimiles with minimal side effects (munchies, lofty hippie-esque philosophies, and if I go overboard in a session then a lack of motor skill). Better than all those pills that cause nausea, irritability and fucked up sleeping patterns, if you ask me.

yeha but whatever happened to good ol sobriety? i mean it seems like the arguement alot of people make against prescription drugs, especially the ones used to treat mental illness, are that people who take them are trying to escape reality. well what the fuck are you doing when you puff that joint or drink that beer? Besides, would you say that people taking chemotherapy are only trying to escape their diease?

My point on harm reduction isn't pointing at the idiotic statement that was made as a horrid suggestion to dealing with a drug problem.

My problem was that all of a sudden that was the last word on the matter.

Particularly when dealing with young rebellious teenagers, you must understand that they're going to find out the information they want to look for, and if the discussion is ceased once someone says something that would strike many as irresponsible, immediate silence sets off flags in the rebellious mind "Hrm... that sounds like _THAT_ is what I should do then" and they wander off into that territory without really understanding what dangers are involved, and that's when badness happens.

That's all I really wanted to say on the matter. I realise the saving-face mentality but I don't necessarily agree with it. I think in public forums we should be able to discuss and ridicule as the reactions come, and let the natural discussion take its course.
