I've personally foung taking 5-HTP and melatonin makes my insomnia worse. Seems like other people have done it fine, but that combination has left me with zero sleep for the night a few times.

5-HTP is probably your better option Myra. Just be prepared for some pretty bizarre dreams.

5-htp is better for the deep sleep than melatonin. Trust.

I just started taking 5-HTP again last week, and it's making a huge difference. I've been getting more sleep every night, not waking up in the middle of the night, and just generally feeling better in the morning. 5-HTP rocks (until I build up tolerance, at least).

First experience with it last night. I slept against my night owl sleep schedule. Took it at midnight and was asleep by 1:30am (four or five hours before usual) and "woke up" an hour later with a nasty experience with sleep paralysis. While fascinating, what I experienced wasn't intended for a human mind. Fell back asleep an hour later (as well as I can reckon) and entered a very lucid dream. I woke up at 8am sharp and felt great mentally, although quite drained physically. Stoked for tonight. I love dreaming again; I haven't been having great dreams as of late.
