or wuts worse is when they think that thier opinion is the only one that people can have.. but thats why its a bloody opinion!!! we are all allowed to have our own.. but it just dont work that way.. for example...

my dad and I have usually very similar opinions on things.. but there are a few things that I see diffrent.. like if we are talking about music.. he thinks that all electronica is NOT music.. and I like to think diffrently.. and I am allowed to think on my own, am I not? but yeah, we will argue about this till the end of the day.. but he thinks it not music and that that.. I'm not allowed to say it is.. but I have to remind him that I am allowed to have my own opinion.. and it like bugs him or something.. and just shuts up.. [or its my dad just pulling my leg to bug me]

but does anyone else come accross this with thier male friends? or is it just me???

The dad thing I think may be a different issue altogether. I have the same problem, and I think almost all families do.. I think, personally, that parents tend to let the "respect your elders" theory go to their heads, then become more and more close-minded as time goes on. I think as people get older they get wiser, but usually get more narrowminded as well. It's too bad.

Honestly I'm not even a big electronica guy myself (Hey I'm on this board cuz my gf is :p ), but I respect it because I DO think it's good music, it's just that different people look to music for different things. I look to music as a form of poetry, and thus the lyrics, and how they are said, is a big thing to me. I also really enjoy the sound of natural instruments. I think electronic music is more for those who want to FEEL the actual music, and the music is more a connection to the body. Least that's my take on it.

Oh, and I'm a guy, and I don't think I'm always right :p But see, there's always two sides to a story, and sometimes BOTH sides are right, and usually neither side is able to see that.. hence these big disagreements :p

As for the romance thing, you can't push it... if he's not the romantic type, why force him to be.. wouldn't that be fake? Would you want him to be doing something he didn't want to just to please you? Or does that show you that he's willing to make sacrifices? Girls complain too fucken' much.

Lost Boy Scout: I must disagree with you about 'electronica' music not having 'lyrics'... IMO, sometimes saying nothing is saying more than enough, the different pitches, tones, etc. are lyrics themselves.... I personally find a lot of ambient songs to have a lot more 'soul' than songs with 'actual' lyrics... it's all about the mood of some of the songs that you can almost think of the perfect lyrics for them instead of one that already has them presented to you. But that's just my opinion....

As Sun Goo said, most people in general like being right, regardless of sex/status.... I always thought that women were always like, 'blah blah, you don't know me! I'm right BIATCCCCCCCCCH" and the guy, wanting to get into her panties just agrees, "duhh.. yeah, you're probably right, let's 'make up' hunny"
