I remember being grossed out by chicken once too. Because if you think about it, you're eating animal muscle... like how is that different from eating human muscle? And then I used to think about people holding human legs like chicken legs or drumsticks..
i bet you human meat would taste good too. I got over that after like a month, but the thought of meat makes me sick sometimes.. but I still like my steaks medium-rare mmm blood. |

the thought of meat started making me sick too, probably cause my best friend at the time was vegetarian and she would tell me she became veggie cause she was eating chicken once and she looked down and saw veins and she thought she was gonna barf
so i started looking down at my meals... veins...bones...flesh... *shivers* makes my stomach turn |

Vegatarinism is personal choice, and I support personal choice completely, but the theory seems completely illogical to me.
Watch some TLC.. animals eat other animals. That is how the world works, that's how it's always worked, and how it always will work. People can choose to do differently, but the fact remains, that's how it's MEANT to be. The evil is not us eating meat. It's how that meat was treated when it was live that is the disgusting part. But then again, I'm sure it's not very enjoyable for a zebra to be eaten alive by a lion either.. And besides, vegetables were alive too! Just because they don't breath and walk around doesn't mean their not alive :383: |

Meat's not a bad thing to stay away from... i was veg from the age of 18 to 26. You just have to make sure you're getting enough protein & other vitamins & nutrients in other parts of your diet. Of course, eating meat doesn't guarantee a balanced diet either... but i've known too many people who stop eating meat because it grosses them out (this was never my reason, i stopped because i read about how meat is produced & it's effects on the environment... scary shit) and then don't make an effort to eat a healthy vegetarian diet.
It's hard to be vegetarian without the support of your family & friends though, especially if you're young and living at home. I was lucky enough to have a supportive family - me & my sis decided to quit meat at the same time, and my folks totally backed us up & stopped eating it themselves. Also, at the time i had a lot of vegetarian friends so going out to a restaurant never posed a problem. Living in Victoria in my early 20's, there were like 4 wicked vegetarian restaurants within a 2 block radius of my apartment. since moving to vancouver, i've gone back on the meat, for a variety of reasons. But i'm still careful about what i eat, i try to only buy free range organic beef & poultry. Staying away from processed meats is definitely a good move, for anyone. Also, if you care about the environment or even slightly give a shit about animal rights, stay away from mass-produced meat! yes, that means Wendy's, McD's, Subway, etc. And even most of the shit you'll find at Safeway. I'm not opposed to the idea of eating something that was once a living creature, but the conditions under which meat is mass-produced are utterly atrocious. I'm sure most people are aware of this by now. |

yes, it's a personal choice. but I'm sure you'll find lots of evolutionary specialists who will counterargue the so-called "fact" that human beings are meant to eat meat. and yes, vegetables are alive. but the way I see it, by eating them, we are giving themselves a chance to replant their seeds in a more efficient way. it's a lot easier for us to pick them, open them up and replant their seeds than for plants to disperse their seeds themselves. besides, it's also psychological thing. I mean, the sight of an animal squealing with pain and squirting blood is enough for me to empathize just because human beings can relate to animals a lot more than plants. the sight of a vegetable being picked does not elicit any sympathy from me. and nor would banging hard on a door cause me to think "oh poor door, it must be hurt!!" :P --Joanne :P |

k, I dont know if I have the support of my family for it.. but they know I dont eat any pork products.. cause its my moms fault.. but we wont get into that..
and I know it the way of life for SOME creatures not all.. like it may not be the way for me my entire life.. get wut I'm saying.. sure plants ARE alive but.. do they have nevers and shit where they can feel? as far as I know.. they dont.. so I'm not exactly hurting them am I ? I dunno.. I just cant eat that stuff.. that you know you can.. see the bones and crap.. its just so disturbing to me.. just like yuck.. no offence to anyone else of course.. I'm just having a change of heart to wards alll this.. but I'm not exactly sure if I could eat any meat with out bones.. cuase I've just been avoiding it all together.. but if I were to just vut meat outta my diet I know I would still get enough protien in my diet being that I mostly live of organic mexican food.. where the beans are high in protien.. and theres a variety of things you can make! ugh.. I dunno.. I'll figure some shit out.. and maybe post something about it.. and see if I'm just going through a phase or some shit1 |

Hmmm.. the way I think of it is..
Food Chain.. 1) Human 2) Animals hence they are lower on the food chain, ment to be eaten by us mammals that rest on the top of the food chain. Whale, fish, pig, chicken, cow, snake... meat is meat so just dig in and eat :) |
