seeing each other means you can still see other people.

going out is a highschool term, i prefer to use "together".

edit-oh yeah "together" means you don't see nobody else.

like you can't even look at them! if you see the person you are "together" with look at someone else you curse him/her and make him/her sleep on the couch.

seeing each other is when you both agree its ok to see other people as well...
