The kind of mood swings you're going to experiance with bipolar will last a lot longer than a few minutes, or whatever this person is describing. There's also those elated stages that people with bipolar disorder experiance, which no really seems to have mentioned.

But in the end you should really stop listening to a bunch of 17 year old ravers, and go see your doctor.

People with bipolar disorder don't have to experience elated stages at all. The manic/mania stage can take the form of intense and uncontrollable anger.
And yes, people who suffer from the condition can also have rapidly cycling moods...although most manic phases tend to last for day-weeks. I think the DSM-IV calls this something else though..bipolar II or something.

At anyrate, Robin's right. If you think you have issues in this department, go see a trained professional about it.

OMG I AM DOING WEIRD THINGS I MUST BE BROKEN GIVE ME DRUGS.

Ah, ravers. They're like Psychologists without the paper, training, $100/hour or much validity. I like how we're all diagnosing based on one incident mentioned with exceptionally little detail.

I agree with Esi and Robyn. If you _really_ think that this is some malfunction of your brain that's going to impede on your regular life, then yeah, go talk to a pro. Don't ask a bunch of 16 year old kids who stay up all night and engage in other seratonin-depleting activities.

Its fucking sick how we are being fed this shit all the time about always needing help, that we can't possibly deal with anything on our own. So you had a bad day, and ya some people piss me off to the max, and just know what to say to put me in a shitty mood. That doesn't mean I'm metally unhealthy for getting angry back when personalities clash and someone can press all your buttons super easily... The only unhealthy thing about this post is that you immediately think that something is wrong with you and that you will end up needing help. What did we do ten years ago when someone was chronically depressed or was quote “bi-polar”? What did we do to get over it then? Immediately presume that we need to call in professionals? A lot of people just sucked it up and then either realized that there was really nothing with them, or that they did in fact need to seek help. Human beings are strong, but we are constantly being broken down by persistently being told that we can’t deal with anything remotely upsetting without counseling or professional help. In short... Be strong girl, give yourself some time to relax before convincing yourself you need help:)

The same thing diabetics did before insulin was synthesized--they suffered, and most of them died before their 30th birthdays.

Suicide is the leading cause of death among teenagers, and the second leading cause of death among college students.

Suicide how ever is a choice. Yes, your mental stability will have some factor in on your thought patterns, but in the end it is only you who can decide if you wanted to end your own life.

Today, yes, those statistics are very true. But what have we been doing differently all of a sudden to cause every one out of seven teenagers to seriously consider suicide? Not something right obviously which brings me back to my point that we all have to be strong, and not go off the deep end so easily about things that may or may not be fixable/true. "To believe in ones self, is to believe in life."

...major depressive episode without the manic phase found in bipolar depression.
You're never up, always down.

You can ask me more about this stuff in about a month. My mental health rotation starts next week. =)

edit: i know, i know, it's "you're", not "your".
