So a read some article in the province today about marriage, and it was bisically about how marriage is not vital for happiness.

So who here really plans on getting married?!

I dont plan on it, if it happens, cool... if it doesn't, cool...

so, just wondering.

I'd like to... then again I come from a rather Conservative Household with the Traditional 1950's Leave it to Beaver Parents. So some of that has rubbed off. I like the idea of having a Wife and Family. And I mean really, when I'm 75 I need someone to sit in the Rocking Chair next to me on the Patio and pass me more Shotgun ammo when those meddlers don't stay off my Lawn.

i was told you should be considering this soon...i think fuck it if it happens that would be so wonderful..to find someone who could put up with me and who i could even stand longer than 10 min...i havent been serious about anyone for 3 years now but i do get really lonely...sometimes...i like being single and having the ability to keep my doors open...but when and if i do find someone who is wonderful then dope shit....big wedding...kids..big house....i come from a rich family who will dish it for my wedding...lol...actually thats what they want me to do ...is settle down..and my mom always askes>>>where are my grandchildren????? my world got turned around 2 years ago, i learned quickley what really matters in life - living. doesnt matter how. i also lost alot of faith in many things. but gained alot in myself.
what it comes down to? i used to think i wanted to get married, that it would be my happiness, then i learned i already had my happiness and it was my passion and i all i needed was to persue it.
would never say no to marriage, but the world wouldnt stop if i never got married.
i do however, want children.

But seriously, ever since I can remember I've wanted the cute hubby, 2 darling children, and the white picket fence. I know that it won't be all sugarplums and lollipops like I imagine in my head, hehe, but it's definitely something I want. Although, if my man were 100% against the whole "marriage" act but not the dream of a family I'd compromise - as long as I don't end up a lonely old maid!

I don't think marriage is nessecary at all. You don't need to be married to have someone sit in a rocking chair next to you on your porch. You just need to have commitment. I would only get married for the tax breaks, because I don't believe in the concept of binding two people in front of god. I don't believe there is a god, so although a celebration of union would still be appropriate, I doubt I'd have a traditional type ceremony.

it's probably been said, but how can you plan on something that should not be forced?
if i find someone that shares the same feelings as me, and they are strong enough for a life-long bond, then yes, i will get married.
