I just quit my job. im trying to quit the smokes now because its easier when i dont work. smoking pot, workin out and eating are helping the dirty urges! this thread makes me wanna have a smoke. just like those damn anti tobacco campaigns.

good luck with that! It's all about the 3 day hump. Once you can get three days without one you can go a few more. Those first 3 days are brutal.

I quit cold turkey about a week ago, and i found that it was more of a habbit then anything. I dont really CRAVE them but i more or less just do it because its somethin to do. Pot is good tho, and i smoke captain blacks now sometimes.

Some really good advice in this thread. I agree with the first few days being the toughest, and it begins to get easier for sure. I resorted to substituting smokes for other things, mainly gum... I didn't start to blaze more like some other people I know did, I did eat more though. I found that it was a habit too and that it was in my head, I thought about all the positives of quiting and the positives of continuing to smoke. It was a no brainer, and the longer I didn't smoke, the better I felt, physically and about myself. I don't really get the urge to smoke at all, I don't think I ever will, I take a puff every now and then though when I am drunk. Once you beat that initial time of smoking being an urge, it should become just a thought, which I found was easier to dismiss... Good luck

hmmm..... i like my cigarettes for sure. but more addictive then heroin? Ive always been really sceptical of the comparison of hard drugs like heroin/cocaine to tobacoo. Cigarettes are childs play when compared to those horrible demons. As addictive as cigarettes can be, this comparison is bullshit and probly just some wise ass idea of a scare tactic that will inevitably backfire like all scare tactics do. Ive never heard of someone having to take something as powerful as methadone to kill a nicotine craving. bullshit
