There are plenty of other smaller companys to shop with (Karma, for example) if you don't like the yogawear giant lululemon has become. There's no arguing that they're comfy as hell tho! :)

Nah, it's not about how big they've gotten or trendy yoga is or whatever. Good for them. I work next to their warehouse, so I know a lot of people who work for them and they are really great people.

I don't buy lulu's because they tell me to floss and drink water, I buy them because they are comfortable and they make my ass look good.

At the end of the day, all they do is sell activewear, I find the fact that they wrote a manifesto pretty cheesy.

agreed. though the manifesto might have some good points, it's cheesy that it's being used as a marketing tool by a clothing company. they sell clothes and that's all, they don't sell a better life. that said, i'm sure it works well for them.

they sell clothes that are targeted to people who do yoga... yoga is good for your body.. therefor improving your life?.. am i the only one who thinks it makes sence?.. and yes its a marketing tool... all companies tend to have one.. and the majority of the time they work quite well ....

i dont know.. like i said b4.. there are way worse companies out there to be hounding on... i full on support local/canadian companies... i did a major business project on lululemon about 3 years ago when noone knew who they were .. they have some great philosophies.. and mange their businesses well!

yadi yadi yadi....

Correct they aren't selling a better life, but they are selling clothes. So by trying to sell you a better life, they are in turn selling you clothes.

yeah, thats why i went on to say that i'm sure it works well for them. they're a business and should do whatever they need to do to succeed, even if it is a little cheesy. i think we're making the same point.

^^ lululemon is a candian owned company .. started by the people who owned westbeach .... i wouldnt call that a giant corporate hun ... nike... now theres a nice example of GIANT corporation.

i think its great that lululemon has had alot of sucess with their company.. and with most companies that are sucessful.. they usually expand.. which is what theyve been doing.. whats so bad about that?.

just to clarify.
i do not work for nike. i work for New Age Sports.
Locally owned (taras dad <3), only in BC.

lulu is (by definition) a cashcow in every aspect, and every company has a corporate aspect to it; just the way the world works.
thats what i meant.

and of course theres nothing wrong with expanding. business is cut throat, they have to brain wash us consumers some how. subliminal, mass adverts, said manifesto. it works. we spend money. we make someone very rich at the end of the day. thats all it is basically.
try and find a big company (local, homegrown whatever) that really actually does care about their customers... and i dont mean by putting common sense things on a bag. you cant care too much or else you dont make profit.
annnnd we all know its all about the dollars at the end of the day.

i dont think ANY company is 100% consistant with their good/bad products.. considering ones p.o.v of a good product could be diff for others. im sure all of you know who im defending there.. yes there are good/bad ethics, but til you research and know the real facts, its hard to point fingers and call specific company's "bad". support your local companies... and its not lululemons fault that they're doing really well. i personally havent seen ONE commerical on tv/print about their company..its been all word of mouth and what we can consider "trend".

personally ill support any company that makes clothes that i like, fit and smells good to me. ill support a vancouver started company AND an oregon started company... hey i may as well support my home town china as well.

because alot of huge corporations practice unethical business practices... ie: child labour, unfair working standards/wages, pollution/excess waste from production.. ect ect...
i dont even know why people are ragging on lulu... wow.. its popular.. omg.. everyone wears its... wow. dont wear it then... all im saying is i think its great for a LOCAL company to have done so well .. and thats why i support them.. i also like their philosophy and how they run their business.. theyre obviously doing something right... and i like their manifesto... not because i think its cool.. or i think im cool... or i think lulu is cool.. i like it because i friggen like it ok!

i would never buy anything from nike .. but do you see me bitching about it all over the place? no.. i just dont buy their products.. mostly because they dont practice ethical business standards. but i wont get into that... i have better shit to do......

look into your closet, or where ever you keep your shoes.
pick out for me 10 pieces of clothing that dont have MADE IN China/Taiwan/Korea/Malaysai/Japan etc. on them.
just for kicks.

and i never said i wouldn't buy anything from lulu. i just disagree with you saying its not a cashcow. thats all.
