I saw the most amazing dancer today

I went to a dance competition today to see my friends sister do her lyrical solo, which my friend choreographed. No big deal, I danced for 7 years, I've been to competitions before, but there was this one girl that just blew me away.

She had really bad back problems a couple years ago i guess, and had to have two metal rods put in her back, leaving her with -no- flexibility in her back at all, which is a vital thing for a dancer. But this didn't seem to slow her down at all.. she looked so beautiful on stage, and her dance was almost perfect; she ended up with 2nd place in a category with 13 other girls.

I was just like "wow".. goes to shows that you can do anything you want to if you really set your heart on it.

I am a dance teacher, and have been dancing since I was 7. My favourite thing when I was a kid was going to watch the dancers at compeition. They were so flawless and free on stage.

Congrats to her for coming second. Competition is brutal these days. I know my girls find it frustrating, but love it all the same.
When I used to compete, it was more fun; less harsh. I miss those days.

Well, I teach Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Acro and Lyrical.

I have been teaching since I was 15 in my hometown in ON. I go home in the summers and teach. This summer I am taking over the dance studio because The girl who runs it is very pregnant, so I am boss!

Then, next fall I am teaching some little guys, and a few jazz/hip hop classes at Arbutus Club. I am hopefully going to do some of their competitive choreography, too.

and yes, it is the best job EVER! I love every second of it. :c-tard:

I used to dance at R&S but I stopped 3 years ago.

high-dee, my friend taught at the Arbutus Club, or she was offered a job there or something. Good luck with that!

bebu*funfun will become famous soon enough
dance competitions are sooo much fun. i was really into it..every weekend goin on road trips with my parents going to a competition... until last year when my passion for dancing totally disappeared and i figured out.. it takes like 5 hours to get ready for a competition (makeup hair, road trip, waiting...etc) and it only takes 4 mins on the stage. that totally got me thinkin cuz i felt like it was a waste of time. but when i DID have a passion for dancing competitions, they were so much fun.. i'm really competitive so i luv struting my stuff and just shining on the stage with many others that share the same passion.

now i share the same passion with ppl at raves.... kinda sad but i luv it =)
