That'd be sound advice if it weren't for the fact that people like the person she's describing typically aren't very good listeners. It's a good start but failing diplomacy action becomes necessary.
I say next time he tries to come over don't be home. People shouldn't be inviting themselves over to your house without your permission. Especially if they're starting to become a bad guest. If you keep bending to his whim whenever he wants to invite himself over, you're merely training him to think that it's okay.
