I had a great time this year. Best year for me so far. No drama, didn't see anything too horrible and got to chill with peeps I haven't seen all year.

Good times.

it was the 36hr bus trip down that did me in... i handled it a bit better last year because i had sleeping pills. For what it's worth it was a lesson learned on what my limits are. When i do go back i'm going to have to take way better care of myself.

?

Extreme heat & humidity in the mornings and day times. Turn that into rain storms, 80 mile per hour winds (Sat), and a full blown hail storm (sunday) in the early afternoons.

4 - 5 degrees celcius at nighttime.

Opportunities to sleep are at 8.30PM once the sun is down before the frosties hit and 7AM when the warmth starts for a couple of hours - even in a tarped tent. 2 nap opportunities a day. If you have had a chance to chase your crap from all over the campsite and dried your other crap wet from sideways rain on Sat & Sun aft.

Extreme weather insanity this year compared to past years. lol

that's why I will NEVER camp in the field.

I got so much sleep in this shambhala. It felt great being able to pack my stuff up monday, and not feel like complete ass.

I remember the weather... I was there!

Here's what you do:

Camp in the trees - your campsite is cool alllllll day long and you can sleep whenever you please. Get a hammock and put it in the trees - again, sleep whenever you want. Don't do any drugs and go to bed no later then about 5am. :) If you must get fucked up, I suggest something that won't keep you up for 3 days ie: pure MDMA, K, mushrooms and/or booze. I bet it would be a lot different if you do it right. Took me a few years to figure it out, but I have it down perfectly now. And don't forget to eat all day - and eat healthy food. :)

PS A big tarp will come in handy over the chair circle, your tent and your hammock city. :D That way you can stay dry if it rains - it has rained 4 our of the 5 years I've been there.

OUCH!!! 36 hours on a bus?! That would do it! I would split that sucker up in 2 days so I could get some sleep! :)

What day though? I remember them disappearing around dusk, perhaps they were held until the next day?
We were camped way up the path from the drop zone where you can't bring your cars. There is some big colorful head by the porto potties and then you go up the hill a bit until you come out of the trees again. We wished we had more trees though. It was hot as hell in the tents during the day. (It was Shaun and I and then Miska, Anita and some other friends.)

Preachin to the choir man. :)

Which means admitting to being a seasoned "3day" bush raver. :S hahhaa

Forget camping in the trees - Im not into chilling with 90 pound tweaker kids flailing on a diet of drugs.

We arrived at sunset on Friday. spots are limited by then. Also, I love camping in the field. It's a really nice escape from the insanity.

It always rains & all that jazz at Shambh. We always come prepared and ready to deal. Just that this year was particularly spectacular. :|

Wait, what?!

You love camping in the field, but you complain about the heat? Is there something I'm missing here?? And, I'm sorry, but do you think there isn't a possibility of camping next to 90 pound tweaker kids EVERYWHERE AT SHAMBHALA?!? I like how you think the field right next to 6 stages is an escape from the insanity... try hiking into the trees where the noise is mostly drowned out. Just an FYI for next year. Didn't you find it hot, noisy and dusty in the field?

the feild this year wasnt that bad i have camped there 3 times now and once in the trees and the trees are defintly the place to camp but if you need to be by your car or rv as we were with the our rv the feild wasnt that bad this year as long as you positioned your self well and brought some tarps.

The number 1 important thing for good camping at shambhala in the feild is the set up if you set up well the week goes smothly.

"You love camping in the field, but you complain about the heat?" - yes, I do love camping in the field.

"hiking into the trees" - did that. In fact, I rode my bike since I camped so far.

"Noisy in field" - nope. Not noisy at all.

"Hot in the field" - not under my giant tarp. Plus 2 RVs in our crew.

"... 90 pound tweaker kids EVERYWHERE AT SHAMBHALA?!?" I missed one. Her name is Erin.

Vitamin-X will become famous soon enough
I camped in the field close to the trees, and besides having my air mattress vibrate, it wasn't half bad.

I left all the "build an open air tarped over campsite" to some buddies who had trucks/right gear for that.

There's just only so much equipment I can fit into my honda.

You're kidding right? What part upset you so much? Are you having a bad day? Maybe you should respond to this tomorrow when you've had some sleep? :) I'm pretty sure I wasn't talking to you in the first place, but from my experience at Shambhala camping in the trees is cooler and quieter. What exactly set you off about that? I think you need to relax a little. I have no reason to reply to any of your other statements - they are so out of left field - looks like you're grasping at straws... try again.
