i found it the perfect temperature, usually i find it too hot.
And Dave is right - the Plaza is unique to vancouver and it kicks ass....i remember hearing people bitch "oh its another plaza party who cares" now its gone fuckers! i wanna see someone bring back queen e theatre as a venue. then i would be impressed. |

Yeah Tradex might be a little better finished since it is more of a trade show building. With heat maybe. It is at the Abbotsford airport. One big building with moveable partitions inside to take different size events. 20 minutes closer to Vancouver. Not as much total floor area as Chilliwack though.

The Original plan for spooky was to utalize more of the space but there was concern that with the planned layout their would be way too much space than people. So the layout changed to accomadate for smaller stages where people could have more of an intimate feel and stay a little warmer. Using the body heat. I agree with Dave whole heartedly. The rave scene in Vancouver has been very lucky to have the Plaza of Nations as many other cities around north america and europe have little or no space designated for all night events. It's going to take a couple of years to develop new relationships with districts and municipalities around the lower mainland. I personally think Heritage Park could be an amazing venue. Imagine 10,000 people going off in 2 rooms the size of the PNE main floor. the PNE only allows between 4,000 - 6,000 people depending on which fire marshall you speak too. So a venue that can house 10,000 people would be insane. THe only problem is that I don't think that there are 10,000 ravers out there that would come out. I know for a fact if I could get 10,000 people out there I would throw the largest and most impressive rave ever thrown in BC. That I would promise you. I also think that an event at heritage park during the summer would be pimp. Anyways just my thoughts on the subject. THreads like this with amny people brainstorming can be an outstanding resource. Thanks.

Use it in the summer??? Are you guys on crack? Summer's the time for OUTDOOR parties not indoor massifs.
<rant> I don't understand why VanCity rav0rs are so against driving an hour or two to get to a really good party. I've driven that time and again... more then I can count actually and sometimes for longer then an hour. If you think an hour's dirve is too far you're spoiled fucking rotten. Promoters go out of their way to bring in the talent and the production that you ask for... spend thousands upon thousands of dollars doing it and you can't be fucking bothered to drive an hour?? I just don't understand that mentality. </rant> |

deffinately not a fall/winter venue. it was fucking cold as hell.
And it's not the best venue around but considering Plaza is going bye bye as far as I know, it might not be such a bad place. And i deffinately agree with bev, the whole mushallthestagesintooneplace thing was not cool. Maybe something a little more sound proof to divide the stages would help, but I don't know if thats possible. |

also, that venue does hold up to 10,000 peeps, if the whole place was in effect, they used 1 of the rooms and made it into 3 besides the jungle stage upstairs.......there is 4 rooms that size in that place, and that was the whle hype for every one in the first place, "you can fit 4 plazas in ths place" but when i walked in there, the space utilized was smaller then just plazas main stage. and not that this applys to everyone, but its a barn and some peeps are elergic, but thats besides the point i just dont share the enthusiasm others do about this place i say, spend the extra and get the colosium, at least its been used more before, and it may not be as cumfy as plaza, but to me its the next best thing :c-tard: |

im sure they looked at the ticket sales and knew around how many ppl they were expecting and made rooms to fit the capacity. last thing i want is each room to be the size of the 3 rooms combined at spooky.. i rather see a place fill up than look half empty. and also.. more rooms opened = money.

:kam: warehouses rock... vancouver-ites need to lighten up, and just enjoy the vibe, ive partied everywhere from in a barn, an underground root cellar, to on a deserted logging road... its all good fun... and while dust may suck, i just look soo cute in my lil pink dust mask, that its all good!
