I only recently started attending plaza parties after a couple years away from them, but I am going to have to say that I am going to miss partying there. Most of the people I go to them with from the Island are going to miss them as well...
Is this going to affect our scene? Hopefully not. I think the promoters are more than capable of finding other venues to throw some great parties at. |

I have an idea, If all the ravers throw donations like starting at the minumum of $10 multiply that by like thousands, or even if they upped the tickets for the last plaza party and put a percentage of the money towards a new venue fund. So a new venue can be built thats even better than the plaza ever was! Wouldn't that be great!?

haha damn, well how about all the money made for the last plaza party, shit i forgot about paying off the djs... hmmm well lets just have an on going fund raiser for the opening of a new venue. So at like every rave a percentage of the cost of tickets will go towards a newer and better venue.

all the money made from the plaza show goes to pay for it. it costs a lot to throw those. there are tons of venues in the city - u just have to find them :P i dont think anything can quite replace plaza...plus no one would want to open a building just for parties that happen once month or so. it would be a waste of space the majority of the time. |

It could be used for other things too, oh dope! I got a great idea, If it was used for like a childrens recreational gym/daycare program/sports utility for the most of the time but build with a rave venue friendly design, I'm sure with the double fund raising with all ravers donating, and having little kids to do the door to door chocolate selling fundraisers for their indoor soccer teams and stuff like that they'd make a killer amount in a few years time!

I think that in a way it will be better that the plaza is gone. I mean it was a great place to party and have massives and shait (even though I am not a huge fan of the massive), but I think that it will allow for there to be more smaller parties. (granted I am biased towards smaller parties) Obviously there are 2 sides to every coin, so there are pluses and minus for each way.
I think things will be alright though, there are alot of smaller production crews in the city, and there will always be parties, they will just have to be a little more resourceful in finding a venue. - ë |

personally i think bringing the parties to main venues has hurt the rave scene (really is there one now???). it did help it for a couple years revenue wise but the quality i find is not worth the money (not saying the quality was there b4 jsut not the bank loan to go)
i find myself going to clubs rather than parties to see the djs for several reasons 1. they are at the clubs 2. much much cheaper 3. MUCH more intimate I am in LOVE with electronic music and would die if it where more like Europe, where electronic is everywhere and you can go to your favorite djs show. BLAh oh well what can you do |

amen to that. Last plaza party I went too was in 2000 after I saw 13 year olds on the floor having seizures. Thats not what the scene is all about. |

I believe that the scene in vancouver for the most part now will be directed towards club nights . I also think this will be healthy for the scene . Don't get me wrong , i've always had fun playing at and attending the big plaza parties , thing is though , i've always had more fun clubbing . It's a more intimate environment for the crowd plus i know most djs like playing clubs better , smaller room , bigger vibe . And of course we all love the club nights because you can drink all night long !
No better chance to find out for yourself which you enjoy more , after the massive this weekend , come and check our club night april 17th . 750 pacific blvd ( formely the rage night club ) Saturday night ! GARETH EMERY aka GTR London U.K 2 rooms , 15djs , Trance , House & Breaks . |
