I've been spinning for about 6 years, and producing for about 10. What originally hooked you into the DJ'ing scene? I got into it through having produced tracks for many years, but what kept me interested in DJ'ing was mainly the level at which the people involved in the scene love the music. It was the idea that people can express themselves in front of an audience that expresses themselves back. What type of music do you specialise in? Drum & bass and breaks, and once in a while, downtempo, hip hop, ambient, IDM, dub, dubstep, and more. Most expensive vinyl that you have paid for? - how much was it? Probably some old record on Audio Couture or Moving Shadow.. no idea really. What is your most treasured record and why? I was touring in the states in 2004 with Mayhem and we were in New York. Something went wrong with the oil tank in the promoter's car, and it ended up going up in flames on the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway. It was in the middle of winter, and there was so much smoke that they closed 5 lanes of traffic. We hiked down the highway to the closest exit and made our way to the police station, then eventually got a train to Connecticut where we were to play that night. I thought I had lost an entire suitcase of clothing in the fire, but got it back 9 days later after travelling to Connecticut, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Kitchener, Rochester, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, then back to Atlanta. the only collaborations i really have at the moment are.... 1 old one that i started with mechwarrior but should still be finished, 2 tunes with mayhem & pacific, about 4 other tunes with pacific (all over the map.. everything from dom-style heaviness to liquid funk)... i should be working with infiltrata and/or gabriel in LA at the end of october.. plenty of influenza stuff on the way as well. other things in the works: rework of a track called "echo park" that i did last year, a remix of "trauma" by dom & roland, a really twisted dub tune with almost no snare hits, a deeper tune that teebee seemed interested in releasing, and some other stuff. going to start working on another single for barcode soon. i will also be remixing "mindbombing" by raiden and "rascal" by sporophyte at some point.. keepin busy!! |
