i totaly disagree....a good enough job just doesnt cut it in my books...its gotta be a GREAT JOB: an original theme, and some djs i have actualy heard of ( of course this is partly my fault-- for not listening to much trance lately prolly) before i am gonna shell out any money on any upcoming events...corporate or underground!

personally i could give 2 shits what the name of the party is, as long as the lineup is good, im there.

the party could be called '2 SHITS AND 2 WHORES' but if the lineup was off the hook, then fuck ill be there.

prime example of this is that party called 'Go Fuck Yourself'/

underground shows are mostly all stellar lineup because the people that play at them.. had their turn in the mainstream scene already. Sometimes, their particular music get unpopular for 1-3200 people parties. But they love it so much that they throw their own 20-50 people parties.

And i've never been to an underground party where they've ripped me off. You're saying that you wouldnt support the underground scene even though you know the music is not going to be part of what's popular today.

Plus, an underground promoter isnt going to bring out superstar talent. There's way better dj's that havnt been discovered, and promoters dont have to pay thousands of $ to bring him/her out.

Wheres the embarassment into naming a party when there was nothing to be researched in the first place. I personally go around to all ticket outlets to see if there are new things to get (Flyers, Records, Clothes etc etc), I have noticed our Trancemission flyers there, I have seen NOT one flyer from Trancemission 8, on FnK I did not see a Trancemission 8 post or any ad's to direct it to the post, I have not heard from any of the people I assosciate with talk about Trancemission 8 (before and after the naming of the party.) With respect we were going to change it, but since the city has strict bylaws, all legal documents for any legal show must be handed in atleast 5-6 months before the show (Name, Venue, Legal papers for rentals etc etc.) We also looked at the size of it, and date (after it was brought to our attention) and we concluded that it was nothing to worry about. A free show vs a show with headliners and $$$ put into it (Weres the embarassment into investing quite the amount of money into a party named coincidentally like your partners.) But parties with pro's and con's... in the end its the persons choice (little to menchion the dates of the parties are qutie far apart too.)
A name is a name, unless its not Trademarked, Copywritten, or legally protected then its fair game. I have done research, and about 90% of people I have discussed this party when it was in its planning stage said that the name "Trancemission" would go regardless with the various themes the whole Evolve Team had proposed. The other 10% said its a party in Europe (I think Russia or some part of Eastern Europe) But to our mistake, we dont dwell in the underground scene regularly (Just like you dont know the dj's on our line up because you dont follow the mainstream dj scene)... I have quit doing the drugs that are assosciated with the underground scene and have stopped being influenced by the sketchy high people that attend the parties, that reason is a big part in why I dont really attend these parties.
The mentality at these parties are also quite biased, I noticed an UNDERGROUND vs MAINSTREAM war going on, and so far every underground promoter/raver that I know of has approached me to either a)bitch about the name or b) bitch about the name. Allot of these people are friendly, but most are insanely bitter/stubborn when it comes to their "Underground Scene and HARDCORE" music... and with the way everyone has come across us with their bitching, insulting and swearing, it simply doesnt make the underground scene anymore respectable to ME as a person.

holy fuckin shit dude which crowd did you hang with..... Christ I've been going to underground parties for a number of years now. And I'll be honest with you I've been offered more drugs at massives/clubs/etc.... then anything else.... Not one "underground" party have I ever encountered such a situation like this ever.....

As far as the name is concerned..... Yeah in once sense I am disappointed that you didn't do your homework.... You know not every party that is out there is posted on fnk or clubvibes or in the clubs that you specifically go to. I've known of the trancemission (free event) almost since it came out... I clearly remember teamhardcore.com and loungex posting up the party information...
Its all about originality though.... sure you can go on and say "well no one owns the rights" true.... but still.... ya know what I mean?????

I respect your honest opinion.. however I would not call this an embarrassment.

If we used a name that was registered/trademarked, and got sued; and had to change what the party was named - that could've been considered a potential embarrasment.

just cause your event is legal doesn't mean all the kiddies who go are not going to do drugs.... its part of the scene, like it or not underground or legal event. Headliners Do play underground parties...my last one featured dig-dug./ i have seen many Corporate and underground entities arise and fall though parties and dj music in the LM over my last 6 years involved...its inevitable..i have no probs with the idea of trying to suceed..i am glad you are suceeding if you guys are..thats great.....thanx for wasting your time in writing a huge explination about the reasons why we dont go to each others events/// that are already understood for the most part ben....the reason TRANCEMISSION was the name of the party for soundproof was because it was underneath a radio tower by squamish.....a names a name i agree, but since i helped PUT ON trancemission 2 i though i'd put in my two cents...istn that what a forum is about?...oh wait...i forgot it is about being rude here, and NOT listening to OTHER peoples feelings and thoughts...besides your own... good luck with the show ( seriously) it should be fun.. trance is suposta be ABOUT FUN.. it is an honest mistake to use the name...as uncreative as it is if it aint under a radio tower
