No. Because usually when I spend that much to see a band I can pretty much assume they're not playing in a hallway.

Hey Drunk -

I have a better idea for you.
Instead of spending your money on a "massive".
You may want to look into getting a education. Your points are pathetic at best and if you're so sick of hearing people complain about ticket prices stop reading/hearing it then.

And to state that white young people are cheap is not only ignorant but just damn racist.
Here's an idea, stop sucking on your parents tit and shut the fuck up.

Edit:

Let me guess what your rebuttal is going to be:
1. "duh... I don't give a shit what you think"
2. "FUCK YOU BITCH I'LL FUCKEN KILL YOU - or somewhere along the lines of that"

so pick either option 1 or 2.

i didnt think so.
You just dont get it. Ive been to free partys that have blown my mind and I have been to plaza partys that have as well(Agro knows how to throw a f'ing great plaza party). When promotors care about the people attending their partys it shows... No matter how much or how little you pay for the ticket.

the reason why the city won't allow sound proof curtains in the house stage is so the cops can watch and laugh at all the ravers trying to dance

what vancouver needs is a Major league baseball team and have a nice stadium setup and then throw parties in those things. I know for a fact that in montreal there has been promoters that have been throwing huge events at the olympic stadium, and that place is absolutely huge. Unfortunantly vancouver does not have large floor space facilities.... Even BC place stadium's main floor space is really small if you look at it...

most MLB fields are roofless and wouldn't allow an all night party probably because of the noise.

ps. vancouver does have a baseball field that the Canadians play in. not sure how big it is though.

the city is currently developing over 1,000,000 square feet of convention space in downtown and in richmond for the 2010 games. More options will come round eventually.

From what I understand DJ's do tend to charge more on holidays. Now whether you consider Halloween a holiday or not it's really upto you. DJ's / Producers have lives you know!!! haha It's funny how so many people think that their lives revolve around the electronica scene which is true, but they are normal human beings outside of it. They have kids that are our age or even younger.

For a holiday line up this is pretty stacked!

Most production companies really don't know very much about the technical details of sound and lighting. They leave everything almost entirely up to the rental company. Essentially a budget is given by the promoters as to how much they want to spend on equipment, and a basic design is provided on how they want things to look. It's usually up to the rental company to fit that budget with adequate equipment.

To provide an answer to everyones question using the following information, I don't believe that Solid Corp. will be able to give an exact answer on how things will be improved on in terms of SQ (sound quality). Masterplan may not be able to answer this either at the moment, because they probably don't have a budget given to them by Solid Corp.

I hope this helps some people out.

Shawn @ Evolve
Shawn, I don't think you should really be answering for any of the promoters of Solid at this moment. No offence or anything I'm sure fnk'ers appreciate the information you just gave them but that still doesn't solve the issue.

FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ASKING. For christ's sake PM him so you can ask the question directly!!!

Yeah but most likely after the 2010 games. You wouldn't want raves there before the actual even you have been building for has been there.

the vancouver trade and convention center will be finished by 2009 so you are probably right.

look at the plaza of nations. It was a temporary venue for expo and it left a legacy for both raves and other events.

it will be a very large, safe venue in the center of downtown vancouver. You will only find legal events there, which will be be of a high quality and I'm sorry to say... will be expensive to attend.

I am excited to see how our city and community will develope. After 2010 these venues will depend on our city local business to keep their doors open. It's a ways away but our future is bright!

As for the explanation of the expensive ticket pricing - PNE has charged us more than usual since this will be last Pacific Coliseum show till later 2006. Also this is usually the biggest event of the year, hence it requires more security/police/fire/ambulance. On top, the cost of a top notch setup + several world class artists/djs are not cheap.

As of those who've been messaging me if both rank1 are showing up - We will have to get back to you in a week or so. Hope that answers most of your questions.

Get your tickets ASAP as DOOMS NIGHT will sell out in advance like last year!! Believe the hype!

Regards,
Solid Management.

Thanks for the clearup, but you still have avoided my question.

Please describe to me the details of the PA that the jungle DJ's will be playing on, and if you don't know the particulars please direct me to someone who does.

To all the people that think i'm bitching by asking questions, think hard. i want to know what i get for my $75. I have seen some really nice sound systems at parties that cost that much and less, and i've also seen production disasters at more expensive NYE events, so it can go either way. I'm not saying the sound WILL invariably suck, or that it must be good for $75. I don't know either way and that's why i'm asking.

I'm not that into trance, or pretty much any 4 on the floor beats, if you are that's fine with me. Unfortunately for me trance is more popular, so the chances of the jungle stage getting a comparable sound system to the trance stage are very small. I don't want to try to listen to sick jungle on a second rate sound system just because you don't like my music, and i'm not going to pay for something when i have no guarantee of quality, especially at these prices.

If anyone thinks i'm bitching, i'm not, i'm just trying to make an informed decision about what to do on halloween. If i go spend $75 without figuring this out and i get there and the jungle system is a glorified boombox, i'm going to be pissed. So, rather than bitching a lot later, i'm asking a few simple questions now.

ps. If you don't know what sound system you're getting for the jungle room yet, let us know, that's okay. Even if you've given masterplan your budget and they haven't gotten back to you with specs, whatever, just give us a straight answer.

Either
a) you don't know, and you won't know for x amount of weeks
b) you don't know and won't know until the day of the event
c) you don't know and your production guy does, his email is foo@bar.com
d) you know, and the sound system is 16 over 16 turbosound flashlights.

just give us a straight answer and all will be fine.
