Plz don't lump all of the unknown DJs like me into the same pile, because that is just not correct ... and a mentality like that makes it hard for DJs like me (who are pretty much unknown in Vancouver) to get into the scene. kthx sorry for the off-topic post ... it just had to be said. |

then there are dj's that do it for a hobby. There's no point in getting your name out here. Look for eastern canada bookings and states. |

this shit is real son
Ok if a dj is booked for a party, and he or she chooses to play something you dont like. You have no right to tell them to stop playing. You booked them for who they are. If you dont like djs that are diverse in sound then dont book them. As far as Reids rep with me goes, i am gonna book this girl for a show if it is the last thing i ever do. We need strong people like her to show people that some of the shit that goes on in this city needs to change in order for our scene to build. Thats right, OUR scene. If you see something you dont like then do not support that person. Yes every one starts jumping ship when someone fucks up. It is what it is. People come together alot easier when they have a common goal. To work out what is going on.
As a senior events coordinator I have had partys go ass up. Shit does happen sometimes, you cant do shit to fix it.Then there is those times that you can make things right. Money is not everything. It is pretty easy in the Van city scene to clean up your messes. These words are not meant as insult or dsrespect. I just hope this will serve as an objective oppinion from someone who has worked inside and outside the scene here for years. Remember we're all in it for the music. Speaking of which I got an ill line up Sept 1st for my Down to Earth party We got HIVE, THIRD EYE TRIBE ,SONNY CHIBA, AMANDA RUDE, and plenty other good reasons to check this shit out. Peace. |

Hating on a genre is lame, imo. lol! Whether promoter or scene kid, telling a DJ what to and what not to play is very lame. lol!
A promoter should listen to a demo, contact the agent, make an offer, sign a contract, and let the DJ do his/her job, and pay them before they play. Schtick that in a contract --> "Promoter acknowledges that Artist is fully independent and completely in control of the design and content of Artist's performance. ____/___ (initial/date)" Should begin put certain things in their right place. Who doesn't know that Reid drops Speed Garage/DnB and all sorts of things in her set from time to time? Doesn't anyone do their homework anymore? Listen to demos and live-from-such'n'such-party mixes? lol. And Terry, we love ya! You music selection is spot on and you're a great guy and a good DJ. You know you're welcome to play at any of our events so drive to Kelowna real soon!! <- east coast snob. :p lol!! Corey K's running some tight shit, no need to hate on him. Not just August, but July as well. Completely unpredictable and this type of feud doesn't help things. |

wow... shows how many parties your have thrown...
(don't mean offensively) You can not do whatever you please. You are working with professionals here (international dj's) and they are human beings. You can't treat people like shit no matter who you are OR think you are! You can request and book them for certain things but if you give them shotty equipment and have no one around the stage for assistance; then what the hell are they suppose to do? Do you people honestly think Reid was in the wrong? Do you have any morals or common sense? As a promoter; it is your profession. There are guidelines that you must not see or understand 1) Positive networking 2) don't screw people over; you never know when you are going to need someones help. Ruff House you get karma! :) |

quite a few actually (what the fuck do you know anyway?). am i wrong in saying that if a promoter hires a dj and doesn't like what they are playing, they can end their set early and bring up the next dj? if you answer yes to that question, you're just looking for an argument. i didn't go into details about this situation in particular, because i wasn't talking about this specifically. i just thought it was silly that someone would say an event coordinator doesn't have the right to call these kinds of shots at their own party.
